CLAT Counselling 2020 - National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi will start the first round of counselling for CLAT 2020 in the second week of June, 2020. The round two for CLAT 2020 counselling will be conducted tentatively in the fourth week of June, 2020. Both the rounds for CLAT counselling 2020 will be conducted via online mode. Only those candidates will receive call letters to attend the counselling of CLAT 2020 who will make it to the merit list of CLAT 2020. There are various steps included in the CLAT counselling such as online registration, selecting the desired NLU, payment of CLAT counselling fee, etc. Total number of National Law Universities (NLUs) participating in CLAT are 21. It has been advised that the candidates must go through the entire counselling procedure to avoid any confusion during the counselling session. How to attend CLAT Counselling 2020?

The shortlisted candidates will be sent call letters to attend CLAT 2020 Counselling. They need to follow the steps given below:

  • For CLAT counselling, click at the given link https://clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in/

  • Enter your login credentials in the given spaces.

  • Click on ‘Counselling’ tab after that.

  • Once clicked on the tab, user will see an indicative allotment list.

  • Only those candidates will be required to deposit an amount as counselling fee whose name will feature in the released allotment list.

  • Select ‘Seat Lock’ option given against the allotted NLU.

  • Don’t forget to save a copy of the allotment list for future references.

CLAT Counselling 2020 – Documents Required

Candidates need to carry the documents mentioned below at the time of attending the CLAT 2020 Counselling -

  • CLAT Application Form 2020

  • CLAT Admit Card 2020

  • CLAT Scorecard 2020

  • Marksheets of 10th and 12th

  • Specially-abled certificate (If applicable)

  • Caste certificate (If applicable)

  • NRI Certificate (If applicable)

  • Domicile Certificate (If applicable)

  • Sponsored NRI Certificate (If applicable)

CLAT Counselling 2020 - Lock, Upgrade and Withdrawal of Seats

  • Lock - Under this option, candidates will be facilitated with the option to lock the seat they have been offered. If a candidate chooses this option, he/she will not be considered for the next counselling rounds. This step is considered valid in every counselling round once indicative seat allotment list is published.

  • Upgrade/Shift - This option is opened to the candidates in the second round of counselling. It is only open for those students who have participated in the first round of counselling and still haven’t locked their seats. The seats are offered to the candidates automatically against any vacancy arising in the preferred NLU through his/ her choice via subsequent allotment list. Once the candidates makes a choice, he/she cannot change it.

  • Withdrawal - The candidates can exercise this option simply by not depositing the required fee. Once it is mentioned in their record, he/ she will lose the chance to get admission in NLUs of his/ her choice as his/ her name will be dropped from the admission merit list. Please note, all those candidates who have been allotted NLUs will be provided with the “withdrawal” option before the final seat allotment list. The candidates who wish to withdraw their candidature from the NLU admission process by the said date will be permitted to do so, and their deposited counselling fee will be transferred back to their bank accounts after a deduction of Rs. 10,000 from the deposited amount as a processing fee

CLAT 2020 Refund Policy - All those candidates who will opt out of the counselling process at any stage or who have been allocated a seat in a particular NLU, but did not join the institute will be refunded INR 40,000. In both these cases, the Consortium of National Law Universities will deduct INR 10,000/- as a processing fee.

CLAT Counselling 2020 – Complete process

  • The candidates will be required to login to their respective CLAT 2020 accounts using their login credentials.

  • After logging into the respective CLAT accounts, a new page will open with the view of the NLUs allotted to them as per the first CLAT 2020 seat allotment list and Counselling Round I.

  • The candidates will need to deposit an amount of Rs. 50,000 counselling fee for CLAT 2020 between the said duration.

  • Those who fail to deposit the fees in the mentioned time period may have to lose their allotted NLU seat/admission opportunity to NLU and CLAT candidature as their names will be dropped from the CLAT merit list.

  • Once the deposition of CLAT counselling fees is done, the committee will issue second indicative seat allotment list (Round II) which will mention only the names of those candidates who have locked their NLU seats. The list will also indicate the candidates who have been upgraded/ shifted to a higher NLU as per the vacancy.

  • Candidates should note that they can switch between 'Lock' and 'Upgrade' options before depositing the counselling fee. Once deposited, he/she will not be allowed to change the option.

  • The candidates whose names have been freshly added to the second indicative counselling list of CLAT 2020, will need to pay the counselling fees in the allotted time period. However, those who have been upgraded need not re-deposit the fee.

  • Similar to the first seat allotment and CLAT counselling round I, if any candidate fails to deposit the counselling fee within the time limit will forfeit their rights to be selected for NLU admissions and their names will be dropped from the merit list of CLAT 2020.

  • Before publishing third indicative list, the CLAT committee will provide an option of withdrawal to all those candidates who have been allotted NLUs in the previous CLAT counselling rounds.

  • Candidates who wish to withdraw from CLAT 2020 admissions will need to exercise the ‘Withdrawal’ option after which an amount will be credited to their registered bank account after deducting Rs.10,000 from deposited counselling fees. However, those who withdraw their allotted NLU seats after the last date of withdrawal will not be liable to receive any amount and it’ll result in deduction of the entire CLAT 2020 counselling fee.

  • The CLAT 2020 admission office will publish the third and the last indicative list of CLAT counselling 2020 mentioning all those candidates who have been allotted NLUs for final term.

  • Candidates as per the final seat allotment list of CLAT 2020 counselling will have to deposit the entire fees at their respective allotted NLUs.

  • The candidates are required to report at their respective NLUs with their relevant certificate/ documents required for the CLAT 2020 admission formalities.

  • It must be noted that the candidates who do not meet CLAT eligibility criteria 2020 will not be offered admission to NLUs, will also automatically lose their candidature as well as CLAT counselling fee amount of Rs. 50,000 and can’t claim for that, under any circumstances. Hence, it is always advised to read the eligibility criteria of CLAT before proceeding to any step of admission.

CLAT Counselling 2020 - Important Instructions

  • The counselling for CLAT 2020 will commence tentatively in the second week of June, 2020.

  • It will be conducted by NUSRL, Ranchi.

  • CLAT 2020 will be conducted in an online mode.

  • Candidates are required to submit all the original documents will be returned after scrutinizing.

  • Call letters will be issued to the selected candidates to attend the CLAT 2020 Counselling.

current affair is a section which you need to revise every day. other wise there is chances for forgetting it. so I would suggest you to daily follow any one of the news paper or you may follow bankers adda magazine. every day spend 1 hr for studying. you will surely get success.

Yes you can prepare for the exam just consistency should be maintained . The law aspirants need to check CLAT 2020 eligibility criteria to ensure they follow the right protocols prescribed for the admission process; refer the bullet points given below for complete details.


Eligibility requirement for UG program:


Qualifying exam: The candidate must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam from a recognised university or board.

Marks in qualifying exam: General category candidates need minimum 45% marks in the qualifying exam,  while SC and ST candidates need only 40% marks.

Age limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT 2020

Candidates who are appearing in qualifying exam in March/April 2020: Such candidates may also apply, subject to the condition they produce evidence of passing the qualifying exam at time of admission

Are CLAT or LSAT marks required for ifim law college Bangalore?

Hello aspirant,

As per my knowledge, to get admission in IFIM Law college in Bangalore, you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria, which includes that the candidate must qualify either of the entrance exams (CLAT, LSAT, AILET or ILAT).

Also, the applicant should have passed PUC with atleast 45% marks.

Hello Aspirant,

CLAT is the entrance exam for the admission to 5 years Integrated law program & LLM (PG) program. CLAT is not for the admission to three years law program, If you want to apply for CLAT entrance exam then you can apply as there is no any age limit.
