Question: What is the mode of Common Law Admission Test?
Answer: CLAT 2019 will be conducted online on May 12, which is the second Sunday of May month.
Question: What is examination mode of CLAT 2019?
Answer: The Common Law Admission Test mode is way back to an offline pattern after being administered online for the last four years. CLAT 2019 will be a paper-pen based test administered by CLAT Consortium.
Question: Won't this year's CLAT be held in Computer-Based mode/online?
Answer: No, the CLAT 2019 will not be conducted in online or computer-based mode.
Question: Has CLAT eligibility criteria changed?
Answer: Yes, the CLAT eligibility criteria had been changed two years back after the Supreme Court order on BCI's age cap. According to the revised eligibility criteria of CLAT 2019, candidates irrespective of their age limit can apply for the NLUs admission test. Earlier, the Bar Council of India (BCI) had put an age bar, following which candidates attaining an age of 20 years or less as on the date of admission year, could only apply for the national-level law entrance exam for undergraduate programmes and those belonging to SC, ST, Other Backward Classes, and Specially-Abled Persons (SAP) were given an upper age relaxation of 2 years, i.e., 22 years of age as on the same date for being considered eligible for CLAT.
Question: Why did the CLAT 2019 mode was changed from online to offline?
Answer: Facing allegations due to the technical glitches owing an online mode, the CLAT Consortium decided to move back to the offline mode so that the exam can be held in more transparent and glitch-free way. This is what CLAT 2019 Convenor has to say on offline CLAT.
Question: What will be the medium of online CLAT?
Answer: CLAT 2019 will be held in English medium only.
Question: Is there any arrangement for Specially-Abled Persons (SAPs)?
Answer: Yes, the specially-abled persons can opt either to arrange for his/ her own scribe or to make request to the CLAT office to provide one for them. In case of the first option, candidates will need to download the scribe declaration form at the time of filling CLAT 2019 application. Moreover, the SAPs will be entitled to a compensatory time of 40 minutes.
Question: Will I be given extra sheets/papers for rough work and calculations?
Answer: Yes, examination centres will be providing the rough sheets for calculations. However, no electronic devices will be allowed in the CLAT examination centres.
Question: How can I practice for offline CLAT?
Answer: Candidates can take mock tests and also solve CLAT sample papers as they will help in practicing for the offline CLAT. The sample papers and well as mock tests will prove quite helpful because they provide a look and feel of the format of the actual Common Law Admission Test.
Question: Is there any negative marking for CLAT 2019?
Answer: CLAT 2019 follows a negative marking policy where 0.25 marks each will be deducted for every wrong answer. Check here the CLAT exam pattern.
Question: Do I need to send hard copies of any document or filled CLAT applications to the CLAT Office/NLU Odisha office?
Answer: The candidates need not send any document or CLAT application form to the CLAT office. However, it is advised that candidates should keep a hard copy of filled-in CLAT 2019 application form for his/her own record and future correspondences with the CLAT office.
Question: How many times can I change/modify/make changes in CLAT application?
Answer: A CLAT aspirant can make changes in the application form as many times as he/she wishes before paying the CLAT application fee. No changes can be made after the payment of fees and once the application form has been submitted.
Question: How can I receive CLAT 2019 admit card?
Answer: CLAT admit card 2019 will be issued in the month of April, which can be downloaded by accessing your login account using your CLAT user id and password. Candidates should note that no hard copy of admit card will be sent to any of the candidates or not even through e-mails. Candidates must ensure that every information printed on the CLAT admit card is correct and in case of any misprint including spelling mistakes, they should immediately bring it to the notice of CLAT authorities. Candidates must carry the admit card of CLAT 2019 along with a valid identity proof (Aadhar Card/ Voter Id card/ Driving License/ Passport, etc.) to their respective examination centres.
Question: What if I receive a zero/blank application number after submitting CLAT form?
Answer: It means that the application form of CLAT 2019 has not been submitted successfully and you’ll be required to fill the application afresh.
Question: What details should I retain after completion of CLAT applications?
Answer: The CLAT aspirants should retain the following details after completion of the application form–

Question: What is the syllabus of CLAT 2019?
Answer: CLAT syllabus includes important topics from each of the offered five sections– English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.
Question: When can I provide my choice options for NLUs?
Answer: Candidates can provide their NLU choices while applying for CLAT.
Question: Can I change my NLU choices subsequently?
Answer: No, once a candidate has indicated and submitted his/ her choices of NLUs, it’ll be treated as final. However, in case of multiple applications for CLAT, the last submitted form will be treated as final.
Question: Is there any seat available for NRI/ NRI sponsored/ foreign national candidates?
Answer: Yes, some of the NLUs offer seats to BRI/ NRO sponsored/ foreign national candidates. Candidates need to go through the official website to know more about NRI seats.
Question: What is the minimum cut-off score/ sectional cut off for CLAT 2019?
Answer: There is no such minimum cut off score/sectional cut off score to qualify CLAT. However, admissions to NLUs will be offered based on candidates’ performance in the law entrance examination, in the order of merit.
Question: What is the CLAT counselling fee?
Answer: Candidates will have to deposit a counselling fee of Rs. 50,000 at the CLAT office. The counselling fee is not a separate fee but will be adjusted in the admission fees at the time of admission in the allotted NLU.
Question: Will I be refunded the CLAT counselling fee, if I don’t want to take admission?
Answer: Candidates must note that there shall be no refund of counselling fee after the last date of withdrawal from admission process, i.e., tentatively in the month June . Those candidates who have withdrawn their seats up to the last scheduled date will be refunded after deducting Rs. 10,000 from the CLAT counselling fee.
Question: Am I eligible for some reservation if applying under state domicile quota?
Answer: Yes, some of the participating NLUs offer seats under state domicile quota. Candidates need to find the details of state domicile seats by visiting each of the official brochures of NLUs.
Question: Are there any reserved seats for women/ female candidates?
Answer: Yes, there are a number of NLUs where seats are reserved for the female candidates. Candidates need to look the details of such seats by visiting official brochures of the NLUs.
Question: Do CLAT participating institutes have common rules of reservation?
Answer: No, the CLAT participating NLUs don’t have common reservation rules. Each of the NLUs has its own set of rules and regulations for reservation prescribed by their Acts/ State Governments.
CLAT 2019 FAQs
Question: What will happen in case of some problem in computer during online CLAT?
Answer: In such cases of computer system failure or any other related problems, the candidates should intimate the examination invigilator. However, there will be enough buffer systems available at the examination system to take care of such problems. Moreover, the time lost in changing of systems will be duly counted and compensated as every second will be recorded by the examination server.
