Old is always gold!

When you start preparing for a new section, spend some time in analysing that particular section with the help of previous years question papers. Since the portion of CLAT is vast, and varied, it is impossible to complete the same in a months time. However, it is still possible to prepare for CLAT 2019 in a month. Analysing the previous years question papers will not only familiarize you with the pattern of questions asked from that section, but will also help you in determining what parts are important from CLAT point of view.

Conquer the toughest first.

Start with the subject you feel is the toughest. When you deal with the difficult sections in the beginning, you feel confident about the examination. Towards the end of the preparation phase and as the examination day approaches, you will deal with the easier sections. This will in turn lead to a calmer mind and thus, an optimistic you.

Whatever you believe about yourself on the inside is what you will manifest on the outside.

The best guide for you, is yourself. You know best that which subjects are your forte, and will be easier for you. Do not follow what others do without a thought. If you are weak in english, start with english! Be your own judge.

Need for Speed!

Merely qualifying CLAT will not guarantee a NLU. You have to score at least 125 marks to get a NLU through CLAT. One important parameter which helps in scoring high in CLAT, is being able to manage the two hours given to solve the examination efficiently. This can be achieved if you develop a good reading speed. The unseen passages and comprehensions in the english section consume a lot of time, and if you do not understand the passage in the first read, you have to read it all over again. But if you develop a good reading speed the time consumed in solving a question will be reduced, hence freeing up more time to solve other sections.

Do not get ahead of yourself, maintain a steady pace!

Experts advise to spend the first fifteen days on preparation only. You can solve questions form the sections you are done preparing, but avoid attempting mock test. The simple logic behind this is, you may not be able to solve a major portion of the tests between Day 1 - Day 15 as a major section of the portion would not be completed by this time. The result of the mock tests may be detrimental for you, as it will lead to a negative outlook towards the examination. At any point during the preparation, do not give up. Always remind yourself that it can be done and you will do it!

When to start taking mock tests?

When your goal is to prepare for CLAT in 30 days, every day has to be planned. Start taking mock tests from Day 16 in an exam-like environment. Do not give yourself extra time to solve the questions. Be strict with yourself and analyse the outcome of every mock test. Find out which sections need more work and what are the causes that hamper your performance.

Subject wise preparation strategy

Careers360 has prepared a subject wise preparation strategy with the help of CLAT experts for your reference. This strategy will help you prepare for CLAT in 30 days.

General knowledge and current affairs-

There is no fixed syllabus for this section. The internet is flooded with news articles and general knowledge pieces. It is practically impossible to read everything about everything. To prepare for CLAT in 1 month, you should be a wise picker. Read only those articles which are pertinent to CLAT examination. You can refer to the newspapers or digital media for this. For the current affairs section, make notes of important events according to the month of occurrence. Allot one hours time for every month. This way, you will cover twelve months in twelve hours! Revise this at bedtime, let it be your Bible for a month.

For the unchanging general knowledge section, read about indian history and geography. Again, reading everything is not possible, thus cover only the important and relevant things.

Mathematics -

This section of CLAT will carry questions from elementary mathematics. The questions can be attempted if you have a strong mathematics base and your basics are clear. This section of CLAT comprises of questions of Class X level. All time favourites of CLAT are - percentage, time speed and distance, number system, probability, profit and loss, averages, fractions, time and work, ratio and proportion, simple and compound interest. Make a chart of important formulae and revise the same daily. Spare at least 30 minutes everyday for mathematics sections and solve questions. Mathematics is a subject where practice is needed more than theory. Therefore, practice and practice again.

English -

The syllabus for english is as vast as general knowledge. To cover the infinite in a finite time is impossible. Thus, do not spend time learning new vocabulary from a dictionary. Instead, treat this section as a recreational activity. Read newspapers, magazines, novels, general knowledge books, etc. read content that will help you with other sections of the examination while improving your language skills.

Legal Reasoning -

This is a tricky section and an important one. To be able to attempt this section, you must be aware of the fundamentals of Indian legal framework. Spend at least an hour daily on this section.

Logical Reasoning -

This section also can be mastered only with practice. Understand the logic and devise a strategy for solving similar questions. Spend an hour daily on this section.

If you follow the above strategy for preparation, you would spend roughly 6 - 7 hours studying and should be ready for CLAT 2019 in a months time.

Success has no shortcuts. The above article is no magic wand. It is possible to study for CLAT in a month, but it requires dedication and hardwork. You can clear CLAT in the first attempt and with only one months preparation, but every minute of this time should reflect your perseverance.

We hope that you found the article useful. Good luck for your exams!
