MH CET Law 2020 - The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra will conduct the online-based MH CET Law 2020 exam for admitting candidates to 3 year LLB and 5-year integrated law programs offered by participating colleges. The exams for the 3-year and 5-year programs will be conducted on separate dates, and applications will also be released separately. MH CET law 2020 exam for 5-year integrated program will be conducted on April 12, with applications set to commence on January 20. Meanwhile, MH CET law 2020 exam for the 3-year program will be conducted on June 28; applications will open on March 19. The intake capacity for the 5-year program is around 5,000 and is attempted by around 20,000 candidates. The 3-year LLB course has around 15,000 seats and over 40,000 applicants. Admit cards for the exam will be released on March 27 (5-year) and June 5 (3-year). Candidates who qualify in the respective MHT CET law exams will be shortlisted for counselling and seat allotment. MH CET Law Eligibility Criteria 2020

The DHE, Maharashtra has prescribed the eligibility criteria for candidates going to appear in MH CET Law 2020. The eligibility criteria of MH CET Law are the minimum required standard for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programmes. It is very important on part of the candidate to read carefully the prescribed MH CET Law eligibility criteria 2020. Only after satisfying the eligibility criteria one should apply for MH CET 2020. While the educational qualification will vary according to the requirements of the above-mentioned programmes, there are some common eligibility criteria for both the undergraduate programmes. The basic eligibility criteria are mentioned below.

Eligibility criteria for entrance test of 5-year LLB programme

  • Candidate appearing for 5-year LLB entrance should have completed Intermediate or any equivalent exam (for eg. 3-year diploma in engineering) from any recognized board or university.

  • Minimum aggregate percentage - Candidate must meet the minimum aggregate criteria while applying for MH CET Law 2020. The minimum aggregate criteria is mentioned below.

  • Candidates who have completed their senior secondary or obtained first-degree certificate through distance education or correspondence method are also eligible to apply for MH CET Law, provided such candidates have already acquired basic qualification (class - 10th, class - 9th) before completing the minimum required qualification i.e. class - 12th.

Eligibility criteria for entrance exam of 3-year LLB programme

  • Candidate should be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Further, candidates should note that the 10+2+3 pattern is mandatory for MH CET Law 3-year LLB.

  • Minimum aggregate percentage - Candidates will have stick with minimum required aggregate criteria to appear in MH CET Law 2020, which is mentioned below.

  • An applicant who has completed an undergraduate degree of minimum 3 years and PG degree of ⅔ -years duration along with the basic qualifications in 10+2+3 format are eligible to apply for MH CET Law 2020.

  • Candidates having a degree from the open university, recognized by UGC are also eligible.

  • Candidates in the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply for MH CET Law 2020, Such candidates will have to produce the documents related to qualifying exam at the time of counselling and admission process.

MH CET Law Application form 2020

The application forms for 5-year LLB will be released on January 20, 2020, while the application forms for 3-year LLB will be released on March 19, 2020. MH CET Law 2020 application form will be available on the official website in online mode only. Candidates will have to apply online by registering themselves on the CET Cell website. After registration, candidates will need to fill their personal details, such as name, address, mobile number, email id, educational qualifications etc. Along with MH CET Law application form 2020, candidates will have to submit the application form fees.

While submitting MH CET Law application form, candidates will have to pay the application fee. The application form fees will vary according to the category of the candidate, the fee structure is given below in the table.

MH CET Law 2020 - Reservation criteria

The Maharashtra law colleges will offer seats on the basis of reservation criteria. To get the benefits of reservation, candidates will have to apply for category reservation at the time of registration and filling-up of MH CET Law 2020 application form.

Candidates should that category reservation benefits will be available to only those who are domiciled in the state of Maharashtra. Other candidates from outside of Maharashtra will have to apply under general category. The category-wise reservation criteria is mentioned below.

MH CET Law Admit card 2020

The admit cards for MH CET Law 2020 will be released separately for both 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB courses. Candidates will be able to download admit card from the official CET website (alternatively, the download link will be provided in this section). MH CET Law admit card 2020 is an important document for sitting in the MH CET Law entrance exam. It will contain information regarding MH CET Law exam 2020 like exam centre, exam date, timings, exam instructions along with candidates name, category and other important information. To download MH CET Law 2020 admit card, candidates will need to follow a few steps as given below.

Keep the following things with you while going to the exam centre

MH CET Law Exam centres 2020

While filling the online applications candidates can pick a maximum of 3 choices (centres), preferably in the order of priority. MH CET Law 2020 exam centres will be made available throughout the state of Maharashtra and in some major cities outside Maharashtra, While filling the exam centre choice, candidates should select the exam centres in the order of preference. The conducting body will not entertain any request for change of exam centre once MH CET application form is filled and submitted by the candidate.

The online exam for MH CET Law will be conducted separately for both 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB programme. The entrance test for 5-year LLB will be conducted on April 12, 2020 while the entrance test for 3-year LLB will be conducted on June 28, 2020. The exam will be conducted in online mode. And 120 minutes will be given to attempt the test.

MH CET Law Syllabus 2020

While most of the sections of the syllabus are common for both the undergraduate programme. The 5-year LLB will have also have maths. Moreover, exam standard will also vary as per the requirement of the programme. For eg. in 3-year LLB, questions will be prepared keeping graduation level in mind and in 5-year LLB question paper will be of intermediate level.

MH CET Law 2020 - Result and merit list

The CET CELL, Maharashtra will release MH CET Law 2020 result on the official website of CET. The result for MH CET Law 5-year LLB will be released on April 28, 2020, while the result for MH CET Law 3-year LLB will be declared on July 14, 2020. The result declaration will be accompanied by the release of the rank cards, which will contain information like the name of the candidate, category, combined rank/all India rank, marks, and qualifying status etc.

Following the result declaration, CET Cell, Maharashtra will release the MH CET Law merit list 2020. Candidates who feature in the merit list will have to attend MH CET Law counselling. The MH CET law merit list will be released separately for 5-year and 3-year law programs and will be category-specific. The merit list will prepared using marks on MH CET law 2020 exam; so to get a high merit rank, one must get a good score.

MH CET Law 2020 - Counselling and seat allotment

MH CET Law counselling 2020 counselling and seat allotment will start after the declaration of results, at the final stage. Candidates who were found eligible as per the merit list released by the authorities will be called for counselling. The counselling process involves a series of steps like candidates’ online registration, collecting admission letter, remitting the counselling fees and then finally submitting the original documents. There will be multiple rounds of counselling. And, the total number of counselling rounds will depend on how much seats are left vacant after each round of counselling

The seat allotment will be based on the parameters of merit cum preference and availability of seats. Candidates scoring higher marks and finding better rank will be given preference on seat allotment as they will have more options while selecting colleges.

MH CET Law 2020 - Cutoff

After each round of counselling, all participating colleges of MH CET Law will release category wise cut off list separately for both 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programmes. The cut off will depend on multiple factors like the number of candidates appearing for MH CET Law exam, difficulty level of the paper, the number of seats available for admission etc. Below the general category cutoff for last year is given in a table, candidate’s may refer to previous year cutoff to understand what minimum rank they will need to achieve for admissions to different law colleges in Maharashtra.

  • Candidates should start their preparation as early as possible, this will help them cover the entire syllabus well within time limits, starting early will also give extra time for revision.

  • Make a study plan, it will be difficult to cover all topics without a proper planning. Stick to your plan, because consistency will be the key for success.

  • Read a daily newspaper and note down the important news and events to prepare current affairs. Reading an English newspaper is particularly beneficial as it will also improve English grammar and vocabulary.

  • Attempt regular mock tests for targeted study. The mock tests are specifically benefits by giving a review and identifying the weaknesses of the candidate.

Dear Aspirant,

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is conducted by Directorate of Higher Education, Maharashtra. It is a state level exam and for applicable for undergraduate students. The programmes offered are 3- year LLB course and 5-year integrated law course. It is an online objective type paper.

For preparation of the exam, you need to know the schedule of the applications to understand your planning and how to schedule your time-table.

For 5 year LLB:-

The application starts 20, Jan 2020

The application ends 2nd March, 2020

The exam will be on April 12, 2020

The results will be declared on 28th April, 2020

For 3 year LLB:-

The application starts 19th March, 2020

The application ends 6th May, 2020

The exam will be on 28th June, 2020

The results will be declared on 14th July, 2020

So, this means that if you are applying for 3 year LLB, you have more time to prepare and so you must schedule your studies within that time limit and vice versa.

The next step towards preparation is knowing the exam paper pattern and syllabus.

There will be 150 questions in the exam which will be objective-type. There will be no negative marking and each correct answer will be give 1 mark. The duration of the paper will be 120 minutes/ 2 hours.

The syllabus is as follows:

1. Legal aptitude and legal reasoning (30 marks) :

  • Indian polity including Executive, Judiciary and Legislature, etc.
  • Law prepositions with facts
  • Constitution

2. General Knowledge and Current affairs (40 marks) :

  • History
  • Geography
  • Latest rules and amendments
  • Current affairs (news, events, awards, etc.)

3. Logical and analytical reasoning (30 marks):

  • Completing arguments, drawing well-supported conclusions
  • Reasoning by analogy
  • Applying principles or rules
  • Sets and statements
  • Puzzle
  • Blood relation
  • Series and related concepts

4. English (30 marks) :

  • Vocabulary
  • Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Analogies
  • Idioms and Phrases
  • One-word Substitution
  • Sentence Improvement and rearrangement
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Errors - Common errors, Spotting errors, inappropriate usage of words, spelling mistakes etc, English Comprehension etc.

5. Maths (50 marks) :

  • Profit and Loss
  • Speed and Distance
  • Time and Work
  • Algebra
  • Average
  • Venn diagram and more...

For get a hang of both of these things, solve previous years question papers and mock tests given online.

Some more things to remember:

  • Planning the schedule will always help you. Start as early as you can for the exam to ace it.
  • Stick to that schedule and respect your time and manage it well.
  • Read newspaper daily.
  • Improve vocabulary in English by taking in information in English through newspaper, magazines or books.
  • Review your mock tests results.
  • Revise as much as you can! Make notes and follow them.

As the dates for the examination has not been released yet but it was guessed for releasing in particular months. Have a look at Important Dates for years MH CET LAW  examination,

  • online registration ends in 2nd week of march
  • Hall ticket will be released in 2nd week of April

Yes, you are eligible for mhcet 2020 for 5 year llb course as to be eligible , a candidate should be either appearing for 12th exam or should have passed High School and the qualifying exam senior secondary with 45% aggregate marks while for SC/ST only 40% marks is required while the candidates from VJNT, SBC and OBC Category will require a minimum of 42% marks in their qualifying exam to be eligible. Since , you are in class 12th now and in 2020 you will be appearing for your board exam so you are eligible.
