SET Law, the entrance test for admissions to BA LLB and BBA LLB programmes in Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Noida, will be held on May 3, 2014 across various centres in India. As the minutes pass, the excitement level of aspirants witness a manifold increase.

With just a few hours to go for SET Law Entrance 2014, Careers360 brings you the expert tips on the exam with subject-wise preparation strategy.

Harsh Gagrani, Director, LegalEdge Tutorials shares the last-minute expert tips for SET Law 2014, which will guide the aspirants in cracking the law entrance.

English - The English section of SET Law Exam usually comprises primarily of Reading Comprehension questions. The Reading Comprehension questions of previous years’ SET papers have shown consistency in terms of short length and easy level on the difficulty scale, especially, in comparison to other law entrance examinations. It is advisable to practice Reading Comprehension in the last few days.

Logical Reasoning/Analytical Reasoning – An important characteristic of these sections of SET is that they often consist of a few visual reasoning based questions. Though these questions pose no threat to an aspirant who is otherwise comfortable with most Analytical Reasoning topics, one should practice such questions from previous years’ SET papers.

General Knowledge – The General Knowledge questions of SET have typically been straightforward and on the easier side. Candidates should not ignore basics such as winners of prominent awards (Oscars, National Awards, Man Booker Award), recently appointed Heads of prominent companies, prominent international activities (All that’s going on between Russia-Crimea-Ukraine, Russia-Syria-USA etc).

Legal Aptitude – The SET BBA LLB papers have witnessed questions based on Legal Reasoning that are without Principles. Hence, such a test pattern requires external knowledge on the part of an aspirant. Thus, it would be a wise step to solve such questions from previous years’ SET papers. Also, one should go through the details all the prominent crimes from the Indian Penal Code, as well as the basics of Contracts and Torts. This will also help an aspirant in cracking Legal Knowledge questions, which is common in SET examination.

Besides the above, here are some last minute essentials to guide the SET BBA LLB 2014 aspirants

  • Stay calm and give each question its due time and complete the paper comfortably. Those students, who’re preparing for CLAT 2014, are practicing to complete 200 questions in 120 minutes. Thus, completing 150 questions efficiently in 150 minutes should pose no problems.

  • Use a blue/black ball point pen to fill up the OMR sheets. Take your time but mark your best answer at the first go itself. Changing answers midway is filled with lot of hassles and hence is not recommended.

  • Don’t study a lot on the last day. Take a lot of rest and eat your lunch at least 2 hours before the test starts.

  • Make a clear strategy regarding time to be devoted to each section in the first one or two minutes of getting the question paper. More importantly, stick to the strategy throughout the paper.

  • It is necessary to stay calm regardless of how the paper goes and get back to preparing for CLAT.

sir i got 60 per in b.arch can i know is this per is good and in which clg i will get set

SAKSHI KULSHRESHTHA 24th Jan, 2020

Leelavathi, you can calculate your expected JEE Mains paper 2 rank for the January session using the following formula:

(100-your total percentile) x 112679/100

So with 60 percentile, your rank would be around 45071.

According to your rank, it will be difficult to get a seat in the top colleges. Most top colleges in India require a rank of 5000 or below in JEE Mains paper 2 for admission.

I would suggest you to sit for the April session and give your best in the next session so that your chance of getting a top college increases. Solve the previous years' papers, brush up your concepts and practise regularly.

You can go to the below link to find the cutoff rank for admission in BArch in NITs or CFTIs for the years 2016 to 2019: https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff-for-b-arch-b-planning/amp

You can also go through our college predictor given below to check which colleges you are eligible for: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-architecture-college-predictor

All the best.

Ruchika Chauhan Expert 23rd Jan, 2020

Hello

Chances would be less to get admission in NITs with 39.90 percentile in the JEE Main exam. You should appear for the JEE Main April exam and prepare well to improve your performance in that attempt.
