About AIBE 2024
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued the AIBE 19 notification on September 3, 2024 on its official website, allindiabarexamination.com. The AIBE 19 application form 2024 has also been opened on September 3, 2024. Candidates can register online from the AIBE official website. The deadline to complete AIBE 19 registration is October 25, 2024. The AIBE XIX (19) registration fee is Rs. 3,500 for general category candidates and Rs. 2,500 for SC/ST candidates. The AIBE 19 (XIX) exam will be conducted on November 24, in offline mode. The Bar Council of India exam has questions on basic legal concepts taught in the LLB courses. The Bar Council of India has also issued the AIBE 18 CoP on August 27, 2024. Candidates can collect the AIBE 18 Certificate of Practice from their respective state bar council in which they are enrolled. BCI had also earlier released figures for AIBE 18 in response to an RTI query describing the number of candidates who appeared for the previous AIBE 18 exam. The pass percentage in AIBE 18 is 48.36%.
As per the AIBE 19 eligibility criteria, candidates who have completed either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year LLB degree from a recognised institute can appear for AIBE 19. AIBE is a post-enrolment exam, so candidates must also complete their enrolment with a state bar council before applying for the All India Bar Council Exam. Once enrolled with a state bar council, candidates can appear for the AIBE exam any number of times. Without completing enrolment, candidates will not be allowed to appear for AIBE as it is a post-enrolment exam.
Candidates who clear the All India Bar Examination will be awarded a Certificate of Practice. The CoP is a mandatory certificate to practise law in India. Once a candidate clears the bar exam, he or she becomes an advocate. The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is no longer conducted in open-book mode. However, candidates can carry the bare acts without notes or with short notes, without comments to their exam hall. General category candidates have to clear the AIBE cutoff 2024 by securing at least 45% marks whereas SC/ST candidates are required to obtain at least 40% marks. AIBE XIX (19) 2024 is a qualifying exam. So, every candiate who scores the minimum AIBE cut off marks in the All India Bar Examination will be considered to have cleared the exam.
The Supreme Court of India has also recently rejected a petition to lower the AIBE 19 cut off. The Bar Council of India had increased the AIBE cut off from AIBE 18 onwards. The earlier AIBE cut off was 40% for general/OBC candidates and 35% for SC/ST candidates.
What is AIBE?

The AIBE exam tests the skills of law graduates at a fundamental level and sets the minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law. Law graduates who want to appear for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) must also complete enrolment with the state bar council. AIBE exam is only open to candidates who have completed either a 5-year LLB or a 3-year LLB degree. AIBE is conducted in 40 cities across the country, in 11 different languages. I want to give RJS exam. So i want to ask if i am eligible for the exam if :- 1)I have a LLB degree from a foreign univeristy --- University of Cambridge for 3 years after 10+2 schooling and 2) Two yr bridge course from IIULER to follow the pattern of 10+2+5 and 3) Taken the AIBE exam enrol with bc
Hello,
For eligibility to appear in the Rajasthan Judicial Service (RJS) exam, the primary criteria generally include:
1) Educational Qualification: A degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university in India.
2) Bar Council Enrollment: Enrollment as an advocate with the Bar Council of India (BCI).
Given your background:
1) LLB from University of Cambridge: The University of Cambridge is a prestigious institution, but the degree must be recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). Since you have done a 3-year LLB after 10+2, ensure that this degree is validated by the BCI for equivalence.
2) Two-Year Bridge Course from IIULER: This bridge course is to align your education with the Indian system (10+2+5 pattern). The crucial point is whether IIULER is recognized and whether the Bar Council of India accepts this bridge course as fulfilling the criteria.
3) AIBE Exam and Enrollment with BCI: Passing the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) and enrollment with a state Bar Council is a strong indication of your eligibility to practice law in India, which is often a prerequisite for judicial service exams.
Conclusion: If your foreign degree, combined with the bridge course, is recognized by the Bar Council of India, and you are enrolled as an advocate with a state Bar Council after passing the AIBE, you should be eligible for the RJS exam.
hope this helps,
Thank you
can i do preparation of AIBE exam but i have PCB ?
Yes, you can definitely prepare for the AIBE (All India Bar Examination) even if you have a PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) background in your Class 12. There are no specific subject requirements for appearing in the AIBE. The exam assesses your knowledge of legal principles and your aptitude for the legal profession.
Having a background in Law (through a Bachelor of Laws - LLB degree) is generally considered advantageous for the AIBE. These students would have a strong foundation in legal concepts.
I hope it helps!
