The Bar Council of India (BCI) will issue the final guidelines for the All India Bar Examination XXI (AIBE 21). An important item in the AIBE 21 checklist is the AIBE 21 admit card, which will be issued on May 22, 2026 on the official website - allindiabarexamination.com. Only candidates with their admit card and a valid photo ID can enter the examination centre. The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a closed-book exam. Candidates are not allowed to bring books, study materials, or notes into the exam hall. Only Bare Acts, which are the original versions of laws without any added notes or comments, are permitted inside the examination centre.
The AIBE 21 examination is scheduled to be conducted offline on June 7, 2026 in around 55 cities. The AIBE 2026 is open to all law graduates who have completed either a 3-year LLB or a 5-year LLB. Even the final-year law students are eligible to register and appear for the AIBE 21 exam. The Bar Council announced in 2021 that AIBE will no longer be an open-book exam. They informed the candidates that they could not carry books or study materials inside the examination hall. However, Bare Acts, which are the exact text of a particular enactment, are allowed in the AIBE exam. Candidates can carry Bare Acts without comments to their examination hall. Since Bare Acts are only available to some, the council has also allowed the candidates to carry Bare Acts with short notes (few comments). A notification regarding the Bare Acts is also available on the official website.

AIBE 21 (XXI) is being conducted on a single day. Candidates must report at the time mentioned on their admit card. The timing for the AIBE XXI exam is yet to be announced. The entry to the exam centre will start at least 1.5 hours prior to the exam time. Candidates can check the exact exam timings of AIBE XXI (21) 2026 on their admit card. They are advised to report to the test centre early to avoid the last-minute rush and appear in the examination comfortably.

In the year 2021, the Bar Council of India (BCI) announced that AIBE will no longer be an open-book exam. It further stated that candidates could not carry books or study materials inside the exam hall. But BCI allows candidates to carry Bare Acts into the exam hall.
Since 2021, AIBE is not an open-book exam. However, candidates are allowed to carry bare acts without notes as the number of Bare Acts is not fixed.
