All India Bar Examination
Hey!
yes, the statement you mentioned is correct. AIBE examination is mandatory for all law graduates and advocates who enrolled themselves after 2010 in state bar council (SBC). If candidate qualifies this exam, he/she will be awarded with "Certificate of Practice" by the Bar Council of India. This notification of AIBE was passed during a meeting in April 2010, therefore candidates who enrolled themselves before 2010 do not need to write AIBE.

No. Check bar council website faqs and notification of 2010.
You may get enrolled in 2022 but if graduated before 2010, aibe is not for you.
Only graduation year matters.
Dear Aspirant
The final step to be an advocate is to enroll in any of the State Bar Councils regulated by the Advocates Act 1961. Every state has its unique process of registration. Once the registration is completed the candidate has to clear the All India Bar Examination (AIBE). The exam is conducted by the Bar Council of India, and the candidate gets the certificate of practice upon clearing the exam. The test is conducted to assesses the basic analytical capabilities and knowledge of the law. Once an advocate passes the Bar examination, he/she receives a Certificate of Practice.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has allowed law graduates to practise in courts without clearing the All India Bar Examination for a period of six months.
The Bar Council of India has asked the lawyers to sign an undertaking stating they will appear for the examination within the 6 months allowed to them.
In the meantime, they should also be asked to furnish an undertaking by way of an affidavit on the prescribed performa stating that they shall not practise after the said period of six months without passing the All India Bar Exam, it added.

The answer given by U. Janani is wrong. If your father's law degree was awarded prior to the academic year 2009-10, there is no need to appear for the All India Bar Examination in order to qualify to practice law in India. The relevant date is that of awarding of LLB degree and not enrolment date. Since, your father passed his LLB in 2002, he would not have to give AIBE exam even if get himself enrolled in 2019. Read the answer to FAQs on the website of BCI. More particularly answer to FAQ No.3. The link is:
http://www.barcouncilofindia.org/about/first-all-india-bar-examination/all-india-bar-examination-frequently-asked-questions/
FAQ No.3: I have a degree in law and am currently not practicing. In a few years, however, I intend to enrol myself as an advocate and practice law. Will I have to appear for the All India Bar Examination at such time?
Answer: No. The examination notification only applies to students graduating from academic year 2009-10 onwards. If your law degree was awarded prior to 2009-10, there is no requirement to appear for the All India Bar Examination in order to qualify to practice law in India.
If you still have doubt, send an RTI application to Bar Council of India with your question. You will get the official reply.
