The provisional CLAT answer key will be released a day or two after the conclusion of the exam. The CLAT 2027 provisional answer key will help the students calculate their CLAT marks. In the case of any discrepancies in the provisional key, candidates can raise their objections to the consortium. The consortium will review all the objections submitted by the candidates and make the necessary changes accordingly. The final answer key will be published before the result announcements.
Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Go to the CLAT 2027 notification section
Click on the CLAT 2027 answer key and master question paper
Download both the provisional answer key and the full question paper and save them for future reference
Here’s a quick way to calculate the CLAT score:
Total Marks = (Correct Answers * 1) – (Wrong Answers * 0.25)
Example: If a candidate gets 90 answers correct, 20 wrong, and 10 unanswered, then,
(90*1) – (20*0.25) = 85 marks
If the candidate spots a mistake in the provisional key:
Visit the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Sign in to the CLAT account
Choose the ‘Submit Objections’ option
Select the set (A/B/C/D), question number, and issue type
Pay Rs. 1000 per objection (refunded if the objection is accepted)
Submit the objection before the deadline
Wait for the final answer key, which includes all accepted objections/changes
After the CLAT 2027 exam, the consortium will declare CLAT results tentatively one week after the exam on its official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The scorecard, showing marks, All India Rank (AIR), and category rank, must be downloaded and printed for use in counselling and CLAT seat allotment.
The result will be available online only on the official website of the Consortium of NLUs. Candidates can check their results by following these steps:
Visit, consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Click on the ‘CLAT 2027 Result’ link
Log in using the registered mobile number and password
View the result and click ‘download scorecard’
Save a copy and take a printout for future reference
The CLAT scorecard will include all important details related to the candidate's identity and marks:
Candidate name
Application number/roll number
Date of birth
Total marks scored out of 120
All India Rank
Category rank
Qualifying status
In case two or more candidates score the same marks, the consortium follows its tie-breaker rules:
Higher marks in legal reasoning
If tied, older candidates preferred
If still tied, the lottery system
The consortium invites candidates for CLAT counselling soon after the result declaration. The counselling is conducted in online mode, and the dates are announced separately. Typically, there are 5 rounds of allotment during the CLAT counselling. After each round of allotment, candidates have options to freeze, float, or exit from the NLU admission process.
Events | Approximate Timeline |
Counselling Registration Opens | 1-2 days after result declaration |
Counselling Registration Closes | Approx 4-5 days later |
Round 1 Allotment release | Shortly after registration ends |
Counselling Rounds | Typically, there are 5 rounds, but it varies as per the university |
Once the consortium opens the counselling window, candidates can log in to their official website, register themselves, and fill in their NLU preferences quickly.
The consortium of NLUs sends an invitation to the registered email ID and mobile number of the shortlisted candidates to register for CLAT counselling. The invitation to register for CLAT 2025 counselling will also be available in the candidate’s CLAT account. Here is the process:
Visit the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Log in and validate the invitation for CLAT counselling 2027
Click on the “Make Payment” option (provide the bank account details into which refunds, if any, will be processed)
Complete the payment, and the candidate will receive a successful payment message
Type of Fee | General Category | Reserved Category (ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PwD) |
Counselling registration fee | Rs. 30,000/- | Rs. 20,000/- |
Confirmation (freeze option) fees | Rs. 20,000/- | Rs. 20,000/- |
Candidates will get a full refund if they don't participate or exit before the deadline.
A partial refund may be issued if the candidates exit after freezing, depending on timing.
After seat allotment:
Freeze - It locks and confirms the allocated seat with no further changes. Then, candidates can pay the confirmation fees of 20k to hold it.
Float - It accepts the current seat but allows candidates to consider better NLU options in further rounds.
Exit - It allows candidates to withdraw from the entire counselling process if they are not interested, and get a refund (if applicable).
Admission to NLU depends not only on the candidate's CLAT score and AIR but also on the order of NLUs that they select for admission. If a candidate doesn't choose their university preference carefully, there is a chance they might miss out on a seat in their dream university, even if their rank is good. So, they should think of it as a priority order where they arrange NLUs from the most desired university to the least desired one. They should provide a minimum of 15 NLU preferences. There is no limit on the maximum NLU choices that can be submitted. Candidates can check the rank-wise NLU list to decide the order in which the NLU preferences should be submitted.
Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in
Log in using the registered mobile number and password
Go to ‘NLU preference list’
Check all the participating NLUs and select them in sequence from top (most preferred) to bottom (least preferred)
Double-check the preference order because once the counselling starts, it cannot be changed
Submit the final preference list and save a PDF or print it for the record
Usually, the counselling process is completed in five rounds (it may vary for some particular universities), and sometimes it is followed by spot rounds, if there are remaining seats.
Round | Process |
Round 1 | First allotment: choose freeze, float, or exit |
Round 2 | Float candidates from round 1 can get a better seat if they are higher on their preference list, or they can freeze or exit |
Round 3 | Float candidates from round 2 may get a better seat, or they can freeze. |
Round 4 | The allotment process continues for floaters. |
Round 5 | Final allotment of the seats to freeze |
Spot Round | Some universities may release leftover seats in this round |
Make sure the candidate has all these documents, mentioned below, ready for uploading and verification:
CLAT admit card and scorecard
12th class marksheet
Transfer and migration certificate
Category certificate (if applicable)
Any other reservation-specific proofs (like defence quota, NRI, etc.)
CLAT scores are accepted by 24 NLUs, GNLU, Silvassa and IIULER Goa. Additionally, over 60 law schools in the country accept CLAT scores.

On Question asked by student community
Hello,
To check your CLAT exam hall ticket, go to the official website, log in with your registration or application number and password (or other login details), and the admit card will be displayed on the screen. You should then download and print at least two copies of the admit card for the exam and counselling process.
I hope it will clear your query!!
Hello,
Yes, you can prepare for CLAT through self-study. Many students do it and score well. But self-study works only if you are disciplined and follow a proper plan.
Here are a few points to keep in mind:
1. Know the syllabus and pattern.
Understand each section: English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quant.
2. Make a fixed timetable.
Study a little every day. Consistency matters more than long hours.
3. Use good books and online sources.
Choose reliable material so you don’t waste time.
4. Practice a lot.
Solve mock tests and previous papers regularly. This is the most important part of CLAT prep.
5. Analyse your mistakes.
Check where you go wrong and improve those areas.
6. Stay updated with current affairs.
Read daily news or monthly current affairs PDFs.
If you can follow these steps honestly, self-study is enough. If you feel stuck or need guidance with strategy, you can always use online classes or doubt-clearing support.
Hope it helps !
