CLAT: The national-level Common Law Admission Test (or CLAT) is conducted by the Consortium of NLUs for admission to 5-year integrated LLB and one-year LLM (PG) courses. All the seats of NLUs will be filled on the basis of CLAT reservation criteria as defined by the consortium.
CUET: Common University Entrance Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission to UG courses offered by participating institutes. NTA conducts separate CUET law exams for admission into 5-year integrated law, 3-year LLB and LLM programmes in online mode. The 5-year LLB comes under CUET UG, the 3-year LLB and LLM exams come under CUET PG. Candidates who have a valid score in CUET Law 2025 must separately apply to universities that accept CUET scores.
Lucknow University LLB Entrance Test (LU LLB): Lucknow University LLB entrance exam is an offline pen and paper-based test mode university-level entrance examination conducted by Lucknow University. Through the scores of the LU LLB, candidates get admission to the 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB programmes, respectively.
Allahabad University LLB (LAT): The Allahabad University LLB (AU LAT) is an entrance exam that is conducted in both online and offline modes. The AU LAT score is considered for admission to the 3-year LLB programme. The syllabus of Allahabad University 3-year LLB entrance exam focuses on subjects such as General Awareness, Language Comprehension and Legal Aptitude.
Direct admission to top government law colleges in Uttar Pradesh is limited, as they prioritise merit-based selection through standardised tests to ensure fairness and quality. However, fewer lower-tier or affiliated government law colleges may offer limited seats based on the merit of the qualifying exam, especially under reserved categories or for NRI/ supernumerary quotas.
