Amity University-Noida Law Admissions 2026
Among top 100 Universities Globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2026
The Bar Council of India (BCI) is expected to conduct AIBE 22 in December 2026. The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a mandatory certification exam for advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils who wish to obtain the Certificate of Practice (CoP). Earlier in 2026, the BCI informed the Supreme Court that the AIBE would be conducted twice every year, giving law graduates additional opportunities to qualify and begin legal practice. The official AIBE 22 notification is yet to be released. Once announced, candidates will be able to check the complete schedule, application form, AIBE eligibility criteria, syllabus and exam pattern through the official AIBE website, allindiabarexamination.com.
The AIBE is not a competitive entrance examination. It is a qualifying test conducted to assess whether a law graduate possesses the minimum professional knowledge required to practise law in India. Candidates who secure the prescribed qualifying marks are awarded the Certificate of Practice by BCI. The CoP is issued to advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils and is mandatory for practising law before courts, tribunals and other judicial authorities in India.

The Certificate of Practice is issued by BCI to candidates who successfully qualify the All India Bar Examination. The CoP is a mandatory professional certification that enables advocates enrolled with State Bar Councils to practise law before courts, tribunals and other judicial authorities in India. Since AIBE is a qualifying examination, obtaining the Certificate of Practice remains the ultimate objective for candidates appearing in the examination.
After the declaration of the AIBE 22 result, the CoP issuance process is carried out through the BCI and the respective State Bar Councils. Candidates will first receive updates regarding their qualification status through the official system before the physical CoP certificate is processed and distributed by the concerned State Bar Council. The timeline for issuance can vary from state to state. Therefore, qualified candidates should regularly check notifications issued by their State Bar Council regarding document verification, certificate dispatch and collection procedures.
