No, it is not necessary to give CLAT. Allahabad University conducts its own entrance test. CLAT is compulsory for NLUs.

You can join a Law school without attempting CLAT too. CLAT is still one of the important entrances for law admissions as it given admission in a few top law schools  of the country.
