Iam graduate but. 40% in exam,if I appear pg of 1 yr with 50 % can I apply for clat 3 yrs llb plz guide

mahimadogra_6929406 Student Expert 24th Apr, 2019
Hey.

You don't need to apply for CLAT for a 3 year LLB course. CLAT in an entrance test for admission only into a 5 year Integrated course of law which combines an Undergraduate degree with law, for example- BA LLb, BCOM LLb, BBA LLb etc. CLAT doesn't provide admission to 3 year law courses. As you have completed graduation a 3 year LLb degree is more suitable for you. You will not have to waste 2 extra years in doing graduation again in a 5 year law degree.

Your admission will be based on your score in the entrance tests. There is no common entrance, each college has its own entrance. Few of the entrances for a 3 year law course are, you can still apply for admission.

DU LLb- Delhi University

MH CET- GLC Mumbai, ILS Pune and other law colleges in Maharashtra

PU LLB- Panjab University,Chandigarh

TS LAWCET- Law colleges in Telgangana

BHU LLB- Banaras Hindu University.

BVP LLB- Bharatiya Vidyapeeth University

LSAT- Private Law colleges like O.P. Jindal Global Law school, IIT Kharagpur etc

You'd be eligible to take admission only if you score the minimum qualifying percentage in your UG degree which is usually 45-50% depending on the college and  entrance. So if you score more than 50% in your PG degree then you will be eligible to take admission through these.

Getting 90 marks in CLAT PG exam...what are the prospects of getting NLU?

sudeepta 31st May, 2019

With 90 marks your AIR can be around 426-438.

Now there are 632 PG seats through CLAT OH and there 'll be around 50 PSU posts recruited through CLAT PG.

So the chances of landing a seat with a score of 90 will depend on the category of applicant.

If you are a NRI candidate you should get a seat in the NLSIU ,Bengaluru.Whereas if you are in the Unreserved category you will land a seat in one of the newer NLU s.

Thank you.

Hello Seeth,

Candidates appearing in CLAT PG 2019 need to be well versed with the exam pattern of CLAT PG 2019 for the postgraduate law programmes as it will not just give them a fair idea as to what should be expected out of them but would also help them to devise a strategic plan. As per the CLAT PG Exam Pattern , candidates will be given 2 hours time to attempt the offline paper. The paper will consist of 150 questions of 150 marks where questions from the Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law and International Law topics will be asked. Candidates will be given multiple choices where they need to mark any one of the four choices given. The candidate will be awarded 1 mark each for correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response. Non-attempted questions will be awarded zero marks . There is no mention of any descriptive type paper in the official notification of CLAT PG 2019 exam pattern, so I am sure there would be only objective type questions. What course i should select in clat -2019 form ?

mahimadogra_6929406 Student Expert 13th Apr, 2019
Hey.
CLAT is an entrance test for admisssion to NLUs or National Law Universities are law colleges that provide five year integrated courses of Law. CLAT UG is for 5 year law courses and CLAT PG is for Masters in Law ie LLM which you cant pursue unless you have an LLB degree. So if you are looking to pursue a 3 year law degree after your BA course, then CLAT os not the right entrance test.

There are 2 types of Law courses in India- 3 year LLB course and 5 year integrated law course. 3 year law courses are for those who have completed their Undergraduation. So after completion of any 3 years of Undergraduate course, you can do LLB which will be for 3 years. Hence It would take 6 years if you start with a separate UG degree. And in 5 year law course are for those who are seeking to puruse law after class 12th. It combines an Undergraduate degree with law, for example- BA LLb, BCOM LLb, BBA LLb etc. It takes 5 years after 12th class.
Admission in Nlus is through entrance called CLAT.
NLUs offer only 5 year law courses through CLAT. Though you will be eligible to apply for NLUs even after graduation but it will lead to you wasting 2 years. You'll have to do a graduation degree again and it will take you 5 years to complete law where you can easily compelete it in 3 years. So after graduation 3 year LLB is more suitable.
As CLAT is only for 5  law, I would suggest you to go for the colleges and entrances for 3 year law degree.
Admission to various colleges is done through their own entrance exams or procedures. Here is a list of law entrances for 3 year LLB course -
DU LLB - Delhi University
MH CET- GLC mumbai, ILS Pune and other colleges in Maharashtra
SLAT- Symbiosis Law school
PU LLB- Panjab University, Chandigarh
LSAT- Jindal global Law school, IIT Kharagpur and other private law colleges
BHU LLB- Banaras Hindu University
BVP LLB- Bharatiya Vidyapeeth
TS LAWCET Etc
Best of luck
