Law colleges and universities in India offer LLB admission based on national, state, and university-level entrance examinations or marks obtained in the qualifying exam. National level entrance exams such as Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) have already been conducted in December, whereas, state entrance exams such as Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET), Telangana Common Law Entrance Test (TS LAWCET), Andhra Pradesh Common Law Entrance Test (AP LAWCET), Kerala Law Entrance Exam (KLEE) will be held in the upcoming months of April and May. Some universities, such as GNDU, TNDALU and more, offer admission without entrance exams. Admission to these will also be announced around the same time.

Indian law schools offer integrated LLB and 3-year LLB courses. Every year, thousands of law aspirants apply for LLB admissions through entrance exams. For instance, 72,631 students appeared for the CLAT 2026 to get into the prestigious National Law Universities (NLUs). Similarly, 74,621 and 27,372 students appeared for the MH CET Law 3-year and 5-year LLB exam 2025, respectively. Law as a field of education is becoming increasingly popular amongst Indian students. According to the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), in the year 2021-22, the annual enrolment in LLB programmes is around 4.5 lakh students.

What is LLB?

LLB is a popular undergraduate degree program in India. Candidates who wish to practice law in India must complete an LLB degree. The Bar Council of India (BCI) is the regulatory body that oversees the legal profession and education in India. Types of LLB Courses in India

5-Year Integrated LLB
