In an interview, Utkarsh Sharma (law alumnus) shares his knowledge about the Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar placements, work profile, campus life, memories, etc.
About: UWSL is a private Constituent College of Karnavati University Gandhinagar. Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University courses offered are BBA LLB Hons, BA LLB Hons, LLM and PhD. UWSL admissions are provided based on the candidate's performance in the KUAT/ CLAT/ LSAT/ KU- LAT entrance examination followed by a personal interview/ Viva voice.
Careers360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched?
Answer: My self Utkarsh Sharma, currently practising litigation (commercial and criminal) at High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Indore Bench. At the professional level, I am pursuing the same field of interest.
Careers360: Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?
Answer: I pursued a BBA LLB Hons in Business Law which helped me to make a great choice and developed my interest in pursuing commercial litigation in the industry.
Careers360: Is the Industry work different from what you learnt at Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University?
Answer: Yes, industry work is different from things learnt at UWSL. It demands more practicality and negotiation.
Careers360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?
Answer: I think participating in extracurricular activities, volunteering for legal aid services, and interacting with students, staff, and faculties has enriched my life both professionally and personally.
Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University?
Answer: It was all fear mixed with excitement. I learned new things from new friends like competition and focusing on the path to secure something.
Careers360: You must have spent a memorable time at Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.
Answer: I miss being part of the Legal Aid Cell of Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University. I served as the Co-Convener back then. It was a great time serving the people of Uvarsad and Vavol village providing free legal aid and assistance.
Careers360: Briefly takes us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do, and your routine life.
Answer: In short, it was waking up as early as possible and attending the lectures, then preparing for some or the other stuff like moot court competitions, volunteering, and participating in extracurricular activities. Managing time to chill out with friends with a cup of tea and going to the library to grab some books a day before exams.
Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?
Answer: I participated in National and International conferences, seminars, and workshops which helped me to diversify my networks and build strong industry relationships. Apart from participating, Legal Aid Cell boosted me to work for a cause to make justice accessible for all. These activities enriched my life to think and work practically in the legal industry.
Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the UWSL in it?
Answer: I was updated with the industrial requirements by working in good offices and chambers of law firms and advocates as an intern or Research Assistant. UWSL placements have played a significant role in providing the platform for students to work with top industry experts through Internship and Placement Cells.
Careers360: You are a proud alumnus of this top College. What is the best part of UWSL from a student's perspective?
Answer: UWSL provides a platform where industry experts and world-class faculty help to identify student's interests, choose career paths and enrich as industry-ready.
Careers360: What is your suggestion/guidance for the BBA LLB Hons aspirants?
Answer: It's important to keep in mind that every job path is as unique as the individuals who choose to pursue them. The secret is to be flexible and never stop learning, whether you follow your passion or explore new areas.

They analyse cases, represent clients in court, conduct legal research, and negotiate plea deals. Strong communication, analytical, and ethical skills are essential. After earning a law degree, gaining experience, and registering with a Bar Council, they can practise independently or with law firms.
Family lawyers are required to assist a client in resolving any family-related problem. In general, family lawyers operate as mediators between family members when conflicts arise. Individuals who opt for a career as Family Lawyer is charged with drafting prenuptial agreements to protect someone's financial interests prior to marriage, consulting on grounds for impeachment or civil union separation, and drafting separation agreements.
A cyber lawyer handles legal issues related to the internet, such as cybercrimes, data breaches, and online privacy. They prepare legal documents, represent clients in court, and advise businesses on cybersecurity compliance. The career requires a law degree, specialisation in cyber law, and strong tech knowledge.
An immigration lawyer is responsible for representing the individuals (clients) involved in the immigration process that includes legal, and illegal citizens and refugees who want to reside in the country, start a business or get employment.
A Government Lawyer represents the government in legal matters, provides legal advice to officials, drafts legislation, and prosecutes or defends cases. The role requires strong research, communication, and analytical skills. To pursue this career, one must obtain an LLB, pass the Bar Exam, gain court experience, and apply for government positions. Career progression includes roles from junior to senior government lawyer.
