The Consortium of NLUs has started the CLAT 2026 registration on August 1, 2025. Eligible candidates can fill out the application form by visiting the official website: consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The CLAT registration 2026 will be open for a period of three months. The last date to fill out the CLAT 2026 application form is October 31, 2025. As per the consortium, there is a slight change in the CLAT registration for 2026; now, candidates have to fill out their NLU preferences after the declaration of the CLAT result. This means candidates can now prioritise CLAT NLUs based on their score and rank, thereby enhancing the possibility of securing admission to their preferred NLU.
As students prepare to apply, it is essential to familiarise themselves with the syllabus and exam pattern, which play a crucial role in their preparation strategy. As per the CLAT exam pattern, the total number of questions in CLAT 2026 will be 120, each carrying one mark, with five sections. The CLAT 2026 syllabus has five sections, namely English language, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, general knowledge, current affairs, and quantitative techniques. The syllabus for CLAT UG 2026 contains comprehension passages followed by a series of multiple-choice questions.

CLAT Exam Pattern 2026
The CLAT section-wise marks varies as per the weightage of subjects in the exam. As per the CLAT 2026 pattern, all the questions in the entrance exam will be objective-type questions.

With AIR 10542 and OBC rank 1843, getting top NLUs is unlikely. However, you still have chances in newer or lower ranked NLUs like NLU Assam, NUSRL Ranchi, MNLU Nagpur/Mumbai, especially in later or vacancy rounds. Also consider good private law colleges as backup options.
Since you scored 8000 AIR in CLAT, getting into top NLUs may not be possible, so it is a good idea to look for affordable and good law colleges.
