Answer. I am a student of Law at Manipal Law School.
Careers360. How did you come to choose Manipal Law School and what factors were instrumental in your choice?
Answer. The legacy, the good will and the brand name of MAHE.
Careers360. What were the salient features of your admission process at MLS that struck you as unique?
Answer. The admission process is transparent and fair, quick and the clarifications happen over email.
Careers360. What is your take on the initial days at the MLS campus considering that it is the time to build contacts, understand the processes? Could you give details on the support given by the institute?
Answer. We had timely training sessions given to us to acquaint ourselves with the environment at Manipal Law School. Student Counsellors and the office staff empowered us regarding our entitlements. The peer group is too strong here and the faculty at MLS always are ready to address the doubts arising at our end. Student led committees and clubs give orientation on different aspects.
Careers360. Now that you are a part of the MLS campus, what in your opinion are stand apart features of the institute that you think are really assets to building a student’s career and future?
Answer. The academia – industry interface, the legacy and the associated prestigious international collaborations, the summer schools, the interdisciplinary approach of learning, the outcome based education strategies and the internships after every semester across five years,
Careers360. Could you give details on the industry connection that is inbuilt with the course at MLS and its advantages?
Answer. MLS focusses on interdisciplinary learning and industry preparedness of the students. The periodical seminars and guest talks involving experts from industry gives the first hand idea of academia industry interface. The mandatory internship after every semester adds on to the field level learning. The interdisciplinary courses offered at MAHE enable the students to get an edge over the course.
Careers360. The Manipal family is huge considering the alumni network and the current students. How advantageous in your opinion is this connection and in which ways?
Answer. The huge alumni networking enables internships which, over a period of time, gets transferred into successive and effective placements at law firms. They are the knowledge partners for the academic endeavors and bring to the classroom field level practices.
Careers360. Internships are an integral part of any student’s life. Please talk about the internship process at MLS and how they lead to students being placement ready.
Answer. Across the five- year term of the course, internships are envisaged after every semester. Student’s interest and choice is prioritized in facilitating internship opportunities with NGOs, law firms and court practices respectively. Over a period of time, students could decide for themselves and accordingly pursue the same. By the end of fifth year, these cumulative experiences empower the students at Manipal Law School towards placements.
