The Indian Army has notified the Indian Army JAG Entry Scheme 124th course on the official website - joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates who have an LLB degree and a valid score in CLAT PG 2025 can apply. The JAG 124th course application opened on January 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM and closed on February 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM. The shortlisting for SSB based on CLAT PG score will be conducted in the second week of March 2026. The SSB dates for JAG 12th Course, October 2026, will be in May or June 2026. Candidates should note that the previous year's CLAT score is considered for the recruitment of Judge Advocate General, Indian Army. The combined JAG vacancies for the JAG 124th course are 8. The Indian Army conducts recruitment for Judge Advocate General (JAG) every year. Unmarried male and female law graduates who meet the eligibility criteria can appear in the recruitment process.

Candidates need to fulfil the Judge Advocate General eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. The eligibility criteria have four components:
The aspiring candidate should be a graduate with a law degree, either 3 years or 5 years, with a minimum 55% aggregate marks. In addition, the CLAT PG score of the preceding year is mandatory for all candidates (including LLM-qualified and LLM-appearing candidates) who apply for courses starting in a particular year. Candidate must also be registered with the Bar Council of State or Bar Council of India.
To apply for the Indian Army Recruitment of JAG in the Short Service Commission, the aspirants should be between 21 years and a maximum of 27 years as of July 1, 2026. Candidates must be born not earlier than July 2, 1999 and not later than July 1, 2005.
As per the official notification, the candidate must be from:
A citizen of India
A citizen of Nepal
A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia, and Vietnam intending to permanently settle in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
The candidate should qualify for the CLAT PG 2025 exam to get through the recruitment process in 2026. For this, they need to understand the CLAT exam pattern and CLAT syllabus 2025. The Consortium of NLUs conducts the CLAT examination for admission to National Law Universities and various other recruitments.
Candidates should get themselves registered with the Bar Council of India to apply for the Indian Army JAG position.
Candidates who wish to participate in the Indian Army JAG (124th) course should have a valid CLAT 2025 LLM score. Candidates who possess a valid CLAT LLM score will then need to apply for the Indian Army JAG 124th course separately.
