The Supreme Court of India conducted the Advocates-On-Record June 2024 exam on June 10,11, 14 and 15, 2024 in online mode. The AOR June 2024 application form was closed on April 15, 2024. The Supreme Court had opened the AOR June 2024 application form on March 22, 2024. It had release the AOR 2024 application form notification on the official website - main.sci.gov.in/aor_examination. Candidates could apply for AOR exam either by submitting a physical copy of the AOR 2024 application form or by submitting a scanned copy of the application form via email. The Advocates-On-Record examination 2024 is conducted in online mode. The AOR 2024 online mock test training was conducted on February 3, 2024 in two batches.

The AOR full form stands for Advocates-on-Record. The Supreme Court conducts the AOR exam once a year. Candidates who qualify the AOR exam are able to represent clients in the Supreme Court. The AOR exam consists of four papers namely Practice and Procedure, Drafting, Advocacy and Professional Ethics, and Leading Cases.

AOR Examination 2024 Dates

The dates for Advocates-on-Record exam do not follow a standard pattern. AOR exam 2023 was held in June 2023. On the other hand, AOR 2022 was held in December 2022. The AOR 2024 is proposed to be conducted as an online exam. The Supreme Court has already notified the dates for AOR 2024 mock tests.

AOR Full Form

The full form of AOR exam stands for Advocates-on-Record and refers to the person who has cleared the AOR exam conducted by the Supreme Court of India once in a year. Clearing the exam is a matter of pride as one becomes eligible to represent clients in the apex court.

An Advocate on Record is an advocate who is entitled under Order IV of Supreme Court Rules to plead on behalf of their clients in the Supreme Court. Only an Advocate on Record can argue a case in the Supreme Court and defend their clients.

AOR Eligibility criteria

The Supreme Court of India has prescribed the following Advocate on Record eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must have practised for four years as an advocate.

  • The candidate has to intimate to the Supreme Court that, he or she has started taking one year of continuous training with a senior advocate on the record because he or she intends to become an Advocate-on-record.

  • The advocate should have already completed the one year of continuous training or complete the training by the time of commencement of the exam.

  • Candidate who failed in all the papers in previous attempt is not eligible to apply
  • Candidate who has already appeared for five times in the exam is not eligible to apply.

AOR Exam Application Form 2024

The Supreme Court of India had opened the AOR June 2024 application window between March 22 to April 15, 2024. After ensuring they fulfil the Supreme Court AOR exam eligibility norms, candidates can apply for the exam. The physical copy of the AOR application form can be obtained from the Supreme Court website or the Bar Council of India website. The form must be filled out completely and submitted to the Secretary, Board of Examiners along with the required documents and fees.

Candidates can also provisionally submit scanned copy of the filled out application form via email subject to submission of the hard copy of the AOR 2024 application form later on. The application form can be sent to advocate-on-record@sci.nic.in

Documents Required for AOR Application Form 2024

  • The application form must be duly signed by the candidate.
  • A self attested copy of the advocate's enrolment certificate must be attached with the application form
  • Photograph must be pasted on the application form
  • Certificate of Training from an Advocate-on-Record

After submitting the application form and the required documents, the candidate will be issued an admit card. The admit card contains the date, time, and venue of the exam. The candidate must appear for the exam on the scheduled date and time.

AOR Admit Card 2024

The Supreme Court of India issued the AOR admit card 2024 on May 22, 2024. The admit card of AOR June 2024 was emailed to the registered candidates. The candidates are then required to follow the instructions and download the AOR 2024 admit card. Candidates are required to take a printout of the AOR admit card and affix a recent color size photograph on the top right corner before appearing for the exam.

AOR exam pattern 2024

The Supreme Court conducts the advocate on record exam in offline mode across four days. There will be four papers each containing 100 marks. Candidates need to attempt all the questions within three hours. The exam pattern of the AoR exam is mentioned in the table below.

Advocate on Record Exam Syllabus

The syllabus for the AOR exam includes various areas of law such as constitutional law, civil law, criminal law, and administrative law.
