LAT Exam Pattern 2018 – Allahabad University has announced the Exam Pattern of LAT 2018 on April 15, 2018. Law aspirants who wished to seek admission in the three year law programme were recommended to take a look at the LAT 2018 Exam Pattern. With the help of LAT Exam Pattern 2018, candidates could get a thorough idea of the LAT paper pattern, type of questions, subjects, duration of the law examination and total marks of the examination. As per the LAT 2018 Exam Pattern laid down by the central university, candidates were tested on Language Comprehension, General Awareness and Current Affair and Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude. Candidates were also got information on marking scheme and weightage of the questions to be asked in the examination. The law aspirants should note that the facts and figures in this article of LAT were as per the official brochure for the academic year 2018-2019.

LAT 2018 Exam Pattern – Mode of Examination

Allahabad University conducted LAT 2018 in offline mode where the candidates were required to appear in the examination in person attempting the examination with pen and paper.


LAT Exam Pattern 2018 – Duration

The central university provided 2 hours to the test takers to attempt 150 questions in the law examination.


LAT 2018 Exam Pattern – Total Marks

Candidates were tested on a total of 300 marks. Each correct answer will be awarded with 2 marks and for every wrong answer 0.5 marks will be deducted.


LAT Exam Pattern 2018 – Types of questions

Candidates had to answer both subjective and objective questions included in the law examination. Subjects included - Language Comprehension, General Awareness and Current Affair and Reasoning and Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude.

Part I – Language Comprehension

This section of paper was divided in two parts- Covering English Language Comprehension and Hindi Language Comprehension. It is necessary for the candidates to possess linguistic skills in both the languages to that level that is being expected from a graduate who has not had these as special subjects. Both the sections consisted of synonyms, antonyms, passages for comprehension, homonyms, vocabulary, words commonly confused, one-word substitution, spellings, idioms, phrases, syntax, grammar, knowledge of proverbs, figures of speech, legal terms and precise writing. Candidates are required to be reasonably proficient in their knowledge of English Language.


Part II – General Awareness and Current Affairs

This section consisted of General Awareness about the major facts relating to Indian & World History, Geography, Environment, Indian Culture; Indian National Movement, Science & Technology, Contemporary National, Regional, International Political & Economic Perspectives, International Organizations, Treaties etc. along with questions on General Knowledge of traditional nature.


Part III -  Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude

In this part, candidates were tested on Mental Ability and Logical Ability/ Mathematical analysis, deductive reasoning, odd-even discretion, classification, logical fallacy, syllogism, analogy, agreement and disagreement to judge the candidate’s mind. The questions were related to constitutional/legal principles and practice etc.
