Admissions to 25 national law universities will remain delayed at least till April 07. The CLAT counselling 2025 for which registration started on December 11, was postponed indefinitely following the an order by Delhi High Court asking the NLU consortium to revise the rank list. Its been over two months since the CLAT counselling was postponed and since there has been no update from the consortium. The students have filed multiple cases against the NLU Consortium for alleged discrepancies in the results and final answer keys of both CLAT UG and CLAT PG leaving the NLU admission process hanging.

While all cases are now listed in Delhi High Court for next hearing on April 07, this means, the CLAT counselling will remain delayed at least till an outcome is reached. Even if all the 14 cases listed in the Delhi High Court are resolved on April 07 hearing, the counselling registrations are likely to restart.
This means, the CLAT 2025 counselling may be held in the second half of April. Considering the CLAT counselling is conducted in five rounds followed by an mop-up round, the NLUs admisison process likely to extend till May, June and July 2025.
There are several candidates who were included in the previous CLAT 2025 invite list. These candidates have registered and paid CLAT counselling fee which was Rs. 30,000 for general candidates and Rs. 20,000 for SC and ST candidates.

While there is no refund of CLAT counselling fee as of now, the revised CLAT invite list will bring clarity on whether the counselling fee will be refunded or not. In the event of revised CLAT merit list, some new candidates may be invited for counselling. Such candidates will have to register. However, if some candidates lose the CLAT counselling invitation with revised merit list, they are likely to get full refund of counselling fee.
In general, when any student is not allotted NLUs till final round of CLAT counselling, he/she becomes eligible for refund upon meeting certain criteria related to option exercise.
