Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. (a bit of the background, like graduation, place and any such thing)
Shivam Bansal: My name is Shivam Bansal, and I am currently in my fourth year at Manav Rachna University, pursuing a B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree. I completed my schooling from Hermann Gmeiner School, Faridabad, where I first developed an interest in debates, constitutional matters, and current affairs, which naturally led me toward the legal profession. Over the course of my academic journey at Manav Rachna University, I have been able to strengthen this foundation through rigorous classroom learning, moot court participation, and active involvement in the Moot & Advocacy Society, where I served as Co-Convenor of the Core Committee for the academic session 2025-2026
Careers360: Tell us something about your College/University and what made you choose it
Shivam Bansal: I chose Manav Rachna University because it offers a well-rounded legal education that balances doctrinal learning with practical exposure. The School of Law at MRU emphasises experiential learning through moot courts, trial advocacy, and internship opportunities, which was a significant factor in my decision. The university also encourages active participation in academic events and leadership roles, allowing students to develop both legal acumen and professional skills essential for the corporate and litigation sectors. The supportive faculty and vibrant academic culture at MRU have played an instrumental role in shaping my understanding of law as not just a profession, but a way of thinking and problem-solving.

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at your College/university, and what made you choose this specialisation?
Shivam Bansal: I am pursuing a five-year integrated B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program at Manav Rachna University. I chose this course because it offers a unique blend of business management and legal training, which equips students to handle corporate and commercial legal matters with a holistic perspective. The interdisciplinary nature of the program allows me to understand not only the legal framework but also the business and economic contexts in which laws operate. This specialisation aligns with my interest in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and commercial litigation, areas that require both legal expertise and an understanding of business operations.
Careers360: Is an internship mandatory at your university? If yes, where did you pursue it, and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?
Shivam Bansal: Yes, internships are a mandatory component of the academic curriculum in the B.B.A. LL.B. program at Manav Rachna University. During my course, I have completed internships with law firms such as Singhania & Partners LLP, Lex Victorem Law Offices and other district courts and tribunals. The university's placement cell and faculty provide guidance and share opportunities, though students are also encouraged to apply independently through email outreach, LinkedIn, and internship portals.
Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office with regard to the internships?
Shivam Bansal: The faculty at Manav Rachna University's School of Law has been very supportive throughout the internship process, offering guidance on drafting professional emails, preparing resumes, and understanding workplace expectations. The Dean and Head of Department have been instrumental in organising events like "The Verdict 2026," Moot Court Competitions and Law & Literature Fest 2026, which provided platforms for networking and professional development. The placement office regularly shares internship opportunities and coordinates with law firms and corporate houses, making the application process smoother. My peers have also been a valuable source of support—we often exchange internship leads, discuss application strategies, and share interview experiences, which has created a collaborative and encouraging environment.
Careers360: How was your experience with the internship? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?
Shivam Bansal: My internship experiences have been highly enriching and have given me a practical understanding of how legal principles are applied in real-world scenarios. Working on research assignments, drafting legal documents, and observing courtroom proceedings helped me appreciate the importance of precision, analytical thinking, and effective communication in legal practice. I learned to approach projects in a structured manner—breaking down tasks, conducting thorough research, maintaining accountability, and seeking feedback proactively. These experiences also taught me the value of time management, especially in deadline-driven environments, and enhanced my ability to work collaboratively within teams. Overall, my internships have significantly contributed to my professional development and prepared me for future roles in corporate law and litigation.
