Careers360 brings you an interview with Mridul, a BA LLB student. He shares his personal experience with the MRU Faridabad campus, its facilities, summer internships, and daily routine. Refer to the interview below to gain a much better understanding.

Careers360: Tell us something about yourself. (a bit of the background, like graduation, place and any such thing)

Mridul Bhatia: My name is Mridul Bhatia, and I am currently pursuing a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from SOL, MRU, where I am presently in my 8th semester with a CGPA of 9.32. I reside in Faridabad and completed my schooling from St. Joseph Convent School.

From the beginning of my academic journey, I have been deeply interested in understanding the legal system and the role law plays in shaping society and protecting individual rights. Over the years, I have developed a strong inclination towards Criminal Law and Constitutional Law because they directly deal with justice, rights, governance, and social impact. Alongside academics, I have actively participated in legal research, conferences, outreach programs, and internships, which have helped me strengthen my analytical thinking, communication, drafting, and advocacy skills.

I have also worked on research publications, participated in mediation and legal awareness initiatives, and gained practical exposure through internships under advocates and law firms, all of which have contributed significantly to my professional growth as a law student.

Careers360: Tell us something about your College/University and what made you choose it

Mridul Bhatia: I am currently studying at SOL, MRU, which provides a balanced combination of academic learning and practical legal exposure. I chose this university because of its emphasis on experiential learning through moot courts, internships, legal aid activities, seminars, conferences, and research opportunities.

What particularly attracted me was the university’s focus on overall personality development and skill-based learning rather than limiting legal education only to textbooks. The faculty members are highly supportive and encourage students to actively participate in research work, court visits, conferences, and practical legal training, which has helped me grow both academically and professionally.

Careers360: What is the course you are pursuing at your College/university, and what made you choose this specialisation?

Mridul Bhatia: I am pursuing B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), an integrated course that combines subjects from humanities and law, providing both social and legal perspectives. I chose this field because I have always been interested in justice, constitutional rights, public policy, and the functioning of the legal system.

My key areas of interest are Criminal Law and Constitutional Law because these fields directly impact society and individual freedoms. Criminal Law fascinated me because of its connection with justice delivery, investigation, and courtroom practice, while Constitutional Law developed my understanding of rights, governance, and the framework of democracy.

This specialisation has helped me build strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills while also giving me exposure to practical aspects of litigation and dispute resolution.

Careers360: Is an internship mandatory at your University? If yes, where did you pursue it, and what was the duration? What were the steps to get into it?

Mridul Bhatia: Yes, internships are a mandatory part of the curriculum at because they help students gain practical exposure to the legal profession and bridge the gap between theoretical and practical learning.

I have completed multiple internships under advocates, law firms, and legal organisations. I interned under Soluzione Law Associates in June 2025, where I gained exposure to dispute resolution processes, legal research, drafting settlement agreements, and mediation-related activities. I also interned under Pavan Duggal Associates, where I worked on legal frameworks related to cybercrime, cybersecurity, robotics, and emerging technologies.

Additionally, my internship under Samarth Associates provided me with hands-on exposure to district court procedures, legal drafting, criminal and matrimonial case research, court filing procedures, and legal documentation. I also worked under Advocate Ashghar Khan at Patiala House Court, New Delhi, where I assisted in legal paperwork, case research, drafting, and court procedures. Furthermore, I volunteered with Umeed NGO, contributing to legal awareness and outreach initiatives for underprivileged communities.

To secure these internships, I prepared my resume, actively applied through professional networks, references, and direct applications, and consistently participated in legal events and academic activities that helped strengthen my profile.

Careers360: Please give details on the assistance you received from the faculty, peers and placement office with regard to the internships?

Mridul Bhatia: The support I received from the faculty, peers, and placement cell played a very important role in my internship journey. The faculty members consistently guided us regarding internship opportunities, legal research methods, resume building, and professional conduct. Their mentorship helped me understand the practical expectations of the legal profession beyond classroom learning.

My peers and seniors were also extremely supportive throughout the process. We regularly shared opportunities, references, legal resources, and experiences with one another, which created a collaborative learning environment. Learning from seniors who had already interned under advocates and law firms gave me clarity and confidence while applying for opportunities.

The university and placement support system also helped students stay informed about available internships, conferences, seminars, and networking opportunities, which encouraged us to actively engage with the legal field from the early stages of our academic journey.

Careers360: How was your experience with the internship? What are the key takeaways that you can look back on from it?

Mridul Bhatia: My internship experience was highly enriching and transformative because it allowed me to witness the practical functioning of the legal system closely. Through my internships, I gained exposure to legal drafting, court procedures, mediation, legal research, client interaction, documentation, and case analysis. Observing real court proceedings and understanding how legal professionals handle cases helped me connect theoretical concepts with practical implementation.

One of my biggest takeaways was understanding the importance of legal research and precise drafting in the legal profession. I also realised that communication skills, professionalism, and attention to detail are equally important alongside legal knowledge. My experience in mediation and dispute resolution activities taught me the value of negotiation, patience, and problem-solving in legal practice.

Additionally, working on cyber law and emerging technology-related matters expanded my understanding of modern legal challenges and the evolving role of law in technology-driven societies. Overall, these internships strengthened my confidence, improved my practical legal skills, and further motivated me to build a career in the legal profession, particularly in the fields of Criminal and Constitutional Law.
