National Law School of India University, Bengaluru has released the NLSAT syllabus 2025 on its official website - exam pattern and syllabus on the official website - nls.ac.in. The NLSAT 2025 syllabus has an objective and a descriptive section. The objective section in the syllabus of NLSAT 2025 covers comprehension, critical reasoning, and current affairs. The descriptive section of the NLSAT exam syllabus tests the candidate's legal aptitude and awareness of current matters. As mentioned above, the syllabus of NLSAT 2025 consists of two sections: Part A, which is the objective section, and Part B, which is the descriptive section. Candidates must attempt both parts of the question paper and they will get 150 minutes to do so. The objective and descriptive section is for 75 marks each.
Part A
Given below are details of Part A of the NLSAT 2025 question paper-
Part A is an objective-type section and consists of 8-10 passages of around 500 words that will be followed by multiple-choice questions based on the passage.
It will have three sections on Comprehension, Current Affairs and Critical Reasoning
Each section will have 25 questions
There will be a total of 75 questions, and each question will carry one mark
There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer and every unattempted question

Part B
Given below are details about Part B of the NLSAT exam pattern 2025
Part B is a subjective type section requiring candidates to write short descriptive answers and an essay.
It will have 10 short descriptive questions and one essay question
The ten short descriptive questions will test the candidate’s ability in legal aptitude and reasoning. The question needs to be answered in 300-350 words. Candidates do not need prior knowledge of the law to answer the questions
The essay question will be a test of current affairs ability. The essay should be answered in a maximum of 500 words. The essay will test the candidate’s knowledge of the topic and the ability to form coherent arguments. The essay doesn’t require the candidate to have prior knowledge of the law.
The section will be for a total of 75 marks - 10 questions of 6 marks each. 1 essay question of 15 marks

Candidates have to first qualify in Part A of the exam as per the stipulated conditions in order to be eligible for evaluation of Part B. The final selection of the candidates will be made based on the cumulative scores in both parts of NLSAT 2025.
Candidates should have a non-zero score in Part A of the NLSAT 2025
Candidates will be selected in the ratio of five candidates for every seat for evaluation for Part B.
The first step is to be well-versed with the syllabus and exam pattern of the NLSAT 2025 exam and plan the preparation strategy accordingly.
Candidates must practise with the sample papers and previous year's question papers to get an idea about the type of questions asked in the exam.
One must practise with as many mock tests as possible based on the exam pattern and mimicking the exam conditions. This will increase speed and accuracy.
Practise writing to improve speed as well as quality. The essay writing portion can be a game changer for your selection for the exam.
