Over 100 LLM Seats Still Open in National Law Universities After CLAT 2026 Counselling
The CLAT 2026 spot rounds have started for many National Law Universities (NLUs). After the conclusion of the CLAT 2026 counselling on May 20, 2026, most of the NLUs, including tier 1 NLUs such as NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLU Jodhpur, have released vacant seats notifications on their individual websites. More than 113 LLM seats are vacant in around 13 NLUs in India. Some NLUs such as RGNUL Punjab, NUALS Kochi, NUSRL Ranchi have started the spot round admissions but have not released the number of vacant seats. Many NLUs are yet to release the list of CLAT 2026 vacant seats. Candidates who have appeared for the CLAT 2026 exam can apply before the application deadline. Note that each NLU conducts their individual CLAT 2026 spot rounds and requires direct application for vacant seats.

CLAT 2026 LLM Spot Round Eligibility
CLAT 2026 spot rounds are open for only those candidates who have appeared for the CLAT 2026 exam. These candidates must also have participated in the CLAT 2026 counselling. The candidate’s name must have appeared in one of the CLAT 2026 merit lists. Moreover, it is possible that NLUs specify eligibility criteria in the official vacant seats notification. Candidates must meet the category-wise eligibility criteria specified by the NLU.

Each NLU announces the CLAT vacant seats 2026 individually on its official website. They also open individual application forms. Eligible candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to apply to NLU vacant seats.

How many rounds of NLU Spot Admissions are conducted?
The number of spot admission rounds for vacant LLM seats varies across NLUs and depends on the availability of seats after each round. In many NLUs, the number of vacant seats is limited, reducing the likelihood of multiple spot admission rounds. However, some NLUs, such as MNLU Sambhajinagar, have a relatively large number of vacant seats. If seats remain unfilled after the first round of admissions, the university may conduct additional spot rounds and release the relevant notifications on its official website.
