Candidates will have to provide their NLU preferences at the time of counselling after the CLAT PG result has been announced. This allows the candidates to fill in those NLUs in which they have the most favorable chance of admission as per their performance in the exam. Candidates can provide their NLU preferences through their login. Candidates will be able to gain admission in only those NLUs which have been included in their NLU preference list. At present, 21 NLUs offer admission into LLM programme through CLAT PG. While RPNLU Prayagraj and DBRNLU Sonepat do not offer LLM programme, CNLU Patna conducts its LLM admissions separately.
Once candidates have been allotted a seat, they may exercise the freeze, float or exit option. The details of each option are given below:
Freeze: If a candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat, they can choose “freeze” option to confirm their seat. The candidates must also pay the confirmation fee of Rs. 20000. The confirmation fee will be adjusted against the university fee to be paid at the time of admission. A candidate who has been allotted a seat at NLU which was the candidate’s first preference has to choose the freeze option or else they have to exit the counselling process.
Float: A candidate who is not satisfied with the allotted seat or a candidate who did not get the top preference seat can choose the “Float” option. Such candidates will be considered for seat allotment in the subsequent rounds of CLAT PG counselling 2026. The candidates must also pay a confirmation fee of Rs. 20000. The confirmation fee will be adjusted against the university fee.
Exit: A candidate can also choose to exit the process if they wish to do so. In such a case, the counselling registration fee will be refunded to the candidate in full. If a candidate chooses to exit the counselling process after exercising the freeze or float option, then Rs. 5000 will be deducted and the remaining amount will be refunded.
The Consortium of NLUs will publish the CLAT LLM 2026 cut-off for each round of counselling. The CLAT PG 2026 cut off will be available through the merit list published for each round of CLAT PG counselling. The CLAT LLM cut off is the rank of the last candidate admitted in a particular NLU. The CLAT LLM cut off 2026 will be updated in this section below. Meanwhile, candidates can check the CLAT PG cut off for the previous year.
