PSU recruitment through CLAT 2020 – Many candidates appearing in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for LLM may be interested in working as a legal executive trainee in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Such candidates need to know about the PSU recruitment through CLAT 2020. For example, eligibility criteria for recruitment may include qualification in CLAT, which is a national-level exam administered by the consortium of NLUs. CLAT 2020 will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode on May 10. It may be noted that each PSU will open its own separate application form for PSU recruitment through CLAT 2020. The applicant has to apply individually to the interested PSUs after ensuring the prescribed eligibility criteria is met. Among the top PSUs that are expected to recruit based on CLAT scores include BHEL, IOCL, NTPC, and ONGC. PSUs will invite application for the post of Assistant Legal Advisor (or Trainee Legal Advisor) recruitment through CLAT 2020. Candidates are urged to go through the listing of PSUs which have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with CLAT Committee for the recruitment of applicants through CLAT. These PSUs will accept CLAT 2020 scores for recruiting candidates for the posts of law officers/ legal advisors.

What is a PSU?

PSU or a Public Sector Undertaking as the term indicates is a public sector enterprise (or organisation) which is owned by the Union Government or either a state or a territorial government or both. The majority share of a PSU (51 percent or more) is held by the Union Government or by a State Government or partly by the central government and partly by one or more State Governments. PSUs have their own recruitment process for recruiting technical and non-technical employees.

PSU recruitment for Legal Advisors through CLAT

Recruitment of legal professionals in PSUs is done based on CLAT scores. Candidates need to apply for the vacant positions in each of the PSUs individually after which the organisations will announce their merit lists based on the scores of the law entrance examination.

PSU recruitment through CLAT 2020: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for a vacancy and filling the application form of PSU recruitment, the candidate should carefully go through the eligibility criteria of the PSU. Considering each Public Sector Undertaking will have its own eligibility criteria, it is important to check the eligibility criteria every time the candidate applies to a PSU.

The basic requirement generally is an LL.B graduate (passed out from either three-year or five-year integrated law programmes) securing a minimum percentage of marks as specified by the PSUs. The candidate also need to have qualified CLAT 2020 securing minimum qualifying marks.

As for age criteria, the PSU will notify it at the time of recruitment trough a notification.

PSU recruiting through CLAT 2020: Application Process

Candidates can apply for PSU recruitment by following the official links given in the table above. The candidate also has the option to download the application form for Executive Trainee (Law)/Legal Advisors from the official site.

While each PSU will have separate application forms and processes, the candidate must guard against submitting multiple applications to the same PSU. In case of duplicate applications, the candidature of the candidate may be cancelled.

PSU recruiting through CLAT 2020: Selection Process

The selection process for Executive Legal Trainees in PSUs through CLAT will be based on marks secured in CLAT 2020. The PSU will prepare a merit list to shortlist candidates for further selection rounds, which include interview and group discussion process. Candidates many note that while some of the PSUs may accept previous year's CLAT scores, others may not; hence it is advised to check the selection process of PSUs individually through the official links provided in this page.

And the last date to fill the online application form of CLAT 2020 is 31st March 2020.

Steps you need to follow while filling the form are:-

i scored 49 % in B.A.LLB and i am ST can i apply for CLAT

A ST category candidate need to score at least 50% marks in the graduation. But as you have obtained 49% marks, you are not eligible to write CLAT PG Exam. Any candidate who doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria will not be given admission.

The eligibility criteria of CLAT 2020 for candidates seeking admission to postgraduate courses are different from those required for undergraduate courses. Check the points below to find out whether you meet the prescribed CLAT eligibility criteria for LLM program.

  • Qualifying exam: Aspirants applying for admission to the LLM program needs to hold a valid bachelor’s degree in law or any equivalent exam. Both five-year integrated and three-year law degrees are accepted.

  • Marks in qualifying marks: Aspirants need to score at least 55% in the qualifying degree. SC/ST category candidates will be granted 5% relaxation in minimum marks.

  • Age limit: Like in CLAT UG, there is no age limit for appearing in CLAT 2020 for PG program as well.
