What is a PSU?
PSU or a Public Sector Undertaking as the term indicates is a public sector enterprise (or organisation) which is owned by the Union Government or either a state or a territorial government or both. The majority share of a PSU (51 percent or more) is held by the Union Government or by a State Government or partly by the central government and partly by one or more State Governments. PSUs have their own recruitment process for recruiting technical and non-technical employees.
Recruitment of legal professionals in PSUs is done based on CLAT scores. Candidates need to apply for the vacant positions in each of the PSUs individually after which the organisations will announce their merit lists based on the scores of the law entrance examination.
Before applying for a vacancy and filling the application form of PSU recruitment, the candidate should carefully go through the eligibility criteria of the PSU. Considering each Public Sector Undertaking will have its own eligibility criteria, it is important to check the eligibility criteria every time the candidate applies to a PSU.
The basic requirement generally is an LL.B graduate (passed out from either three-year or five-year integrated law programmes) securing a minimum percentage of marks as specified by the PSUs. The candidate also need to have qualified CLAT 2020 securing minimum qualifying marks.
As for age criteria, the PSU will notify it at the time of recruitment trough a notification.
Candidates can apply for PSU recruitment by following the official links given in the table above. The candidate also has the option to download the application form for Executive Trainee (Law)/Legal Advisors from the official site.
While each PSU will have separate application forms and processes, the candidate must guard against submitting multiple applications to the same PSU. In case of duplicate applications, the candidature of the candidate may be cancelled.
The selection process for Executive Legal Trainees in PSUs through CLAT will be based on marks secured in CLAT 2020. The PSU will prepare a merit list to shortlist candidates for further selection rounds, which include interview and group discussion process. Candidates many note that while some of the PSUs may accept previous year's CLAT scores, others may not; hence it is advised to check the selection process of PSUs individually through the official links provided in this page.
