In-house judicial coaching | Proven success in National Moot Court Competitions
The SRM School of Law, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, successfully hosted the 11th Annual Moot Court Competition from 5 to 7 March 2026, marking another significant milestone in its decade-long tradition of nurturing advocacy, research, and courtroom excellence among law students. The competition at SRMIST was organised in collaboration with the National Foundation for Corporate Governance under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, making it the first edition of the competition to be conducted in partnership with these institutions.
Over the years, the SRM Annual Moot Court Competition has evolved into one of India’s prominent student-run moot court platforms, providing young legal minds an opportunity to engage with real-world legal challenges while sharpening their research, analytical reasoning, and oral advocacy skills. This year’s competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 36 universities across the country, reflecting its growing national reputation and academic significance.
The moot proposition for the 2026 edition focused on emerging regulatory challenges at the intersection of securities law, financial markets, and algorithm-based trading technologies. Participants were required to deliberate on complex legal issues involving automated trading systems, high-frequency transactions, and the role of regulators in overseeing technologically advanced financial markets. The proposition encouraged participants to explore evolving areas of securities regulation and the implications of technology-driven trading systems in modern markets.
The competition was formally inaugurated on March 5, 2026, by G. Rajagopalan, who addressed the participants about the importance of rigorous legal research and advocacy in shaping responsible legal practice. The special address was delivered by V. Venkatesan. As part of the academic engagement, SCC Online conducted a specialised session on legal research techniques and the effective use of digital legal databases, which enabled participants to strengthen their research capabilities.
