Law Admissions 2026 Open | Avail Merit-Based Scholarships
The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has informed that the AP LAWCET allotment result has been withdrawn due to some technical issues. Several students who participated in AP LAWCET 2026 counselling have questioned the allotment results announced by the council. Careers360 received concerns from students, which include non-allotment of colleges despite a higher rank, category mismatches and a male candidate getting allotment in the female category. The allotment documents were seen by Careers360.
A candidate with rank 399 and 81 marks was allotted a 3-year LLB self-finance programme at Indira Priyadarshini Law College, Ongole, under the BC-D-General-AU category.
The candidate had Jagarlamudi Chandramouli College of Law as first preference, AC College of Law as the second, and Indira Priyadarshini as the third preference. The allotment order shows that the candidate received the third preference. Last year’s data shows that the most preferred, JC College of Law, closed admissions at around 5,582, compared to 399 under the BC-D category. The college offers 180 LLB seats under the self-finance category. It is still unclear whether the allotment was due to an error or changes in the competition this year.

Another allotment result has raised a separate question. A male candidate with rank 4,933 and BC-A category was allotted SBRTM Law College, Kadapa, under the category “BC_A_GIRLS_SVU”. The candidate profile identifies him as male, while the allotted category is marked as a girls' category.

Other candidates have reported a different outcome. Students with ranks 92 and 143 said they did not receive a seat, while a candidate with rank 104 reported getting their seventh preference. The student with rank 143 had selected only one college during web options and did not receive allotment, and the allotment document of the student with rank 92 cites no allotment, with failed NCC verification.

“My rank is 893, and my category is BC-D. I filled out the application perfectly, and I also entered my web options correctly. I selected seven options in total. Even then, I got “Seat Not Allotted.” I don’t understand why this happened,” a student told Careers360.

The AP LAWCET 2026 counselling follows a merit-cum-preference system. The final allotment is determined by the candidate's merit position, preferences and eligibility for the available seat. The key rules are:
Merit: Candidates are considered in the order of their AP LAWCET 2026 rank for convenor quota seats.
Web options: The college and course preferences entered by the candidate are considered during allotment.
Local status: 85% of seats in each course are reserved for local candidates, while the remaining 15% are unreserved for eligible local and non-local candidates.
Reservation: Seats are allocated according to applicable reservations for SC, ST, BC, women, PwBD, NCC, sports and Children of Armed Personnel, among other categories.
EWS: The notification provides 10% supernumerary EWS seats in each programme, subject to the applicable rules.
Quota: University colleges have 100% convenor quota seats. Private unaided law colleges have 80% Category-A and 20% Category-B seats, while private universities have 35% Category-A and 65% Category-B seats.
This is a developing story. Careers360 tried to reach AP LAWCET authorities for comment and is following up. This article will be updated when a response is received.
