The National Institutional Ranking Framework will publish the NIRF 2026 rankings shortly on its website. Every year, law schools in India are ranked based on five parameters: teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. The NIRF 2026 law rankings have not yet been published, but many law schools have released their submission reports. NLSIU Bengaluru is expected to retain its top spot, followed by other top National Law Universities such as NLU Delhi, NALSAR Hyderabad and WBNUJS Kolkata. In private law schools, Symbiosis has been consistently making it in the top ten in the past few years
As mentioned above, the NIRF law rankings 2026 will be prepared based on five parameters. Each of the parameters has a specified weightage. Teaching, learning and resources hold the highest weightage of 40%. As per this parameter, colleges are judged based on their student strength, faculty-student ratio, faculty experience, and financial resources and their utilisation. Graduation outcomes hold 25% weightage and focus on placement, higher study metrics, median salary, etc. Research and professional practice hold 15% weightage, while outreach and inclusivity and perception hold 10% weightage each.
