The Consortium of NLUs will conduct the CLAT 2026 exam tomorrow, December 7, 2025. The CLAT 2026 exam is now only a few hours away, and students should leave all study work and focus only on how to take the exam. Candidates are advised to keep all required documents handy beforehand to avoid any panic or unwanted delay on the exam day. Also, students who will appear for the exam must know all the exam-related guidelines, dress code and other important information. In this article, we discuss all the necessary things candidates require on and before the exam day.
Some important pointers for the CLAT 2026 exam by Consortium:

Any special documents mentioned on your admit card
Here is the list of documents candidates need on the day of exam:
1. CLAT 2026 Admit Card (Mandatory)
Must be printed (preferably colour).
Must be signed
Must contain exam centre details, reporting time, and exam instructions.

2. Valid Photo ID Proof (Any One)
You must carry at least one valid ID:
Aadhaar Card
PAN Card
Passport
Voter ID
Driving Licence
School/College ID (only if allowed as per admit card instructions)
3. Photograph (Same as Admit Card Photo)
Carry two passport-size photographs
Should match the photo uploaded in the CLAT application

Here are some pointers on the CLAT 2026 Dress Code for both male and female candidates:
Candidates must wear simple, light-coloured clothes.
They should wear half-sleeved shirts without slogans, big buttons or badges.
Candidates must avoid wearing shoes and instead wear sandals or slippers.
Avoid carrying bags, pouches or wallets in the exam hall.
Candidates should not wear accessories such as nose rings, chains, badges, belts, sunglasses, etc.

2:30 PM | Short Bell | Marks the completion of 30 minutes of the test |
3:00 P.M | Short Bell | Marks the completion of 60 (sixty) minutes of the test |
3:30 PM | Short Bell | Marks the completion of 1:30 hours of the Test |
3:50 P.M | Short Bell | Warning Bell to indicate that 10 minutes are remaining for the test to end |
4:00 P.M | Long Bell | Marks the Completion of the test. No candidate will be allowed to write anything on the OMR Response Sheet/Question Booklet after this Bell. PwD candidates will get an additional 40 minutes. |
Apart from the above-mentioned things, here are some basic guidelines for the CLAT exam 2026:
Reach the CLAT exam centre at least an hour before the specified time.
Carry only permitted items, do not carry any item that is prohibited, like mobile phones, smartwatches etc.
Once you reach the exam centre, immediately check the seating arrangement and your allotted room.
Listen to all the invigilator instructions very carefully.
Fill the OMR sheet with utmost care using blue or black ball-point pen.
Use the question paper wisely, and attempt easy questions first.

With AIR 10542 and OBC rank 1843, getting top NLUs is unlikely. However, you still have chances in newer or lower ranked NLUs like NLU Assam, NUSRL Ranchi, MNLU Nagpur/Mumbai, especially in later or vacancy rounds. Also consider good private law colleges as backup options.
Since you scored 8000 AIR in CLAT, getting into top NLUs may not be possible, so it is a good idea to look for affordable and good law colleges.
