The Bar Council of India (BCI) has released the AIBE 19 result 2024 on March 21, 2025. Candidates who obtain more than the AIBE 19 passing marks in the respective categories in the bar exam will be considered to have passed the exam. The AIBE 19 passing marks for General, OBC, SC, ST and PwD are determined as per the AIBE 2024 final answer key published on March 6. To clear the AIBE 19 exam, general/ OBC candidates need 45%, while SC/ ST/ PwD candidates need 40%.
On March 6, the AIBE final answer key was released, and BCI has withdrawn 7 questions and revised the answers for 3 questions from each set of question paper. However, the withdrawal of 7 questions has reduced the total marks to 93 instead of 100 in the AIBE 19 exam. Following this change in the AIBE 19 total marks, the passing marks in AIBE 19 have been changed for General, OBC, SC, ST & PwD candidates.
According to the revised AIBE 19 passing marks, general and OBC candidates have to score 42 out of 93, and SC/ ST candidates need to score 37 out of 93. The results of AIBE 19 exam 2024 will determine eligibility for a Certificate of Practice to become an advocate and practise law in India. The All India Bar Examination is a qualifying exam to get a Certificate of Practice (CoP) and be eligible to practice in Indian courts. Due to the withdrawal of 7 questions from the final answer key, the total marks in AIBE 19 will be 93, which leads to a decrease in passing marks for the general and OBC candidates. To clear the AIBE 19 exam, general and OBC category candidates need 45% marks. However, as per the revised AIBE 19 passing marks, candidates belonging to the general and OBC categories have to score 42 out of 93 to pass the bar exam.

No, a person cannot practice law in India without passing the All-India Bar Examination (AIBE). After completing an LLB degree from a recognized university, a law graduate must enroll with a State Bar Council and must clear the AIBE exam conducted by the Bar Council of India. Only after passing the exam, the advocate receives a Certificate of Practice , which allows him or her to practice law in any court in India.
So, without clearing AIBE, one cannot legally appear or argue in court.
