The Delhi HC heard the CLAT 2025 cases on March 3 and it has given the next hearing date. The new date for CLAT 2025 result petitions is April 7, 2025. The court has given the Consortium of NLUs two weeks to file its response to a batch of petitions challenging the outcome of the CLAT 2025 for admission to NLUs across the country. In the Delhi HC hearing on March 3, A division bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said that it will hear the matter as early as possible since there is a lot of anxiety among students.
As per the CLAT paper analysis, the overall difficulty level was moderate. The English section was considered the easiest, whereas logical reasoning emerged as the most difficult. A majority of the questions were centered around legal reasoning topics.
Around 10 cases between the Consortium of NLUs and different petitioners feature in the case list for the March 3 hearing. It is not the first time the Delhi High Court will be hearing the CLAT 2025 result-related cases. Previously, a single judge, Justice Jyoti Singh delivered an important judgment directing the NLU Consortium to revise the CLAT 2025 results. This judgment was later upheld in the division bench of the Delhi High Court. After the judgement, the Consortium of NLUs issued a notification informing about the delay in the publication of the CLAT 2025 merit list and postponed the counselling process indefinitely. On February 6, the Supreme Court of India directed to transfer of all pending cases related to CLAT 2025 to the Delhi High Court for faster resolution of the cases and to avoid contradictory judgements.
In addition to the Aditya Singh Vs. NLU Consortium case and several other cases were filed in the High Courts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata, and Bombay HC. The High Courts in Maharashtra and MP gave interim orders on CLAT PG results, making it subject to the outcome of the petitions filed by students.
All these cases will now be heard in the Delhi High Court for early disposal. These cases are related to CLAT UG and PG results. Here are some issues set to be heard in the Delhi High Court;
Revision of CLAT UG results
Revision of CLAT PG results and final answer key
Conduct of CLAT 2025 exam
Grievance Redressal
On this question, the petitioner, Aditya Singh has already secured a favourable order when Justice Jyoti Singh directed the consortium to revise the answers to two questions — Question number 14 and Question number 100 from Set A CLAT 2025 question paper. The division bench later refused to set aside this judgment when challenged by the NLU Consortium.
The petitioner, in this case, flagged 5 errors in the CLAT question paper answer key and sought revision of results. While question number 14 went in favour of the petitioner, question number 100 was withdrawn and objections against the remaining three were not accepted. This led the petitioner to challenge the single-judge verdict. The matter eventually reached the Supreme Court which transferred the case back to the Delhi HC.
So, now if the previous judgement of the single judge is sustained again, the result will be revised for two questions.
If the remaining three objections are also accepted, the CLAT UG rank list will be changed substantially, resulting in major shuffling in the merit list.
On CLAT PG results, 12 answers have been challenged. Any of these going in the candidates' favour means, the CLAT PG results will also be revised.
CLAT objection fee and conduct of the exam were also challenged. While the chance of the CLAT 2025 exam being conducted again appears very unlikely, it may lead to some reforms in the next CLAT.
There are good chances that all the uncertainties around CLAT 2025 results and NLUs admission process will be cleared in the March 3 hearing.
