One of the important factors to consider when opting for a law programme is the cost of education. The LLB fees in India is on an upward trend due to the growing interest of students to study law. Aspirants are on the constant lookout for the top law colleges with the lowest fees. On August 12, 2024, the Ministry of Education, Govt of India released the list of top law colleges in India through the NIRF law rankings 2024. Universe Considered to Select Law Colleges with Low Fees

The law colleges with the lowest fees have been selected from the list of colleges that have been included in the NIRF law rankings 2024. The NIRF rankings 2024 consist of the top 40 law colleges in India. It includes a mix of private and government law colleges. The NIRF rankings list is dominated by National Law Universities such as NLSIU Bengaluru, NLU Delhi, and NALSAR Hyderabad which are the top NLUs in the country.

However, when it comes to law colleges with low fees, one has to look beyond the top NLUs, as the NLUs fee structure is often in the range of Rs 15-20 lakhs which is slightly on the higher side.

Top Law Colleges With Lowest Fees in India

Among the law colleges with the lowest fees, a majority of the institutes are non-NLU government law schools. The fees for a 3-year LLB is lower in general than the 5-year LLB due to the shorter duration of the course. Similarly, the fees at government law colleges is considerably lesser than the fees at top private law colleges. The details of the top 10 law colleges are given below. Only one college on the list, SASTRA Chennai, is a private law college while the remaining others are government-owned institutions.
