    The National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, is the number one ranked law college in India. Ever since the NIRF law rankings were launched in 2018, NLSIU Bengaluru has been consistently ranked number one without exception. Every year, NLSIU Bengaluru sees the highest CLAT cutoff, and admission to this college is very competitive. Every law aspirant in India dreams of a seat at NLSIU Bengaluru, and its placement numbers, alumni network, and cultural environment all contribute to its stature in the legal education system. Only a few hundred out of 70,000+ candidates get admission to this law school for its five-year LLB course through CLAT.

    NLSIU Bengaluru Admissions Through CLAT

    Admissions to 5-year LLB and LLM courses are solely done through the Common Law Admission Test. Candidates interested in admission to the BA LLB and LLM courses at NLSIU Bengaluru must take the CLAT exam. The detailed NLSIU Bengaluru admission process has been given below:

    • Register for the CLAT exam: Candidates interested in admission for a 5-year LLB course must first fill the CLAT application form. The CLAT application process involves steps like registration, filling in details, payment of the application fee, uploading of documents, etc.

    • Appear for CLAT exam: Registered candidates must take the CLAT exam. CLAT will be conducted in offline mode. The exam is a passage-based test in which candidates must answer 120 questions in 120 minutes. CLAT is usually conducted in December and results are declared within a week.

    • Participate in CLAT counselling: Candidates who will be invited to CLAT counselling through email must complete their counselling registration. During counselling, candidates will be required to fill their NLU preferences. Candidates must enter NLSIU Bengaluru as their first choice. Candidates must also complete other steps, such as uploading documents and paying the counselling registration fee.

    • Freeze seat if allotted admission: Candidates who will clear the NLSIU Bengaluru CLAT cutoff will be allotted seats. Such candidates must accept the allotment and pay the required fee to book their seat. Also, candidates will be required to complete document verification and balance payment on university level.

    How Many Marks and Ranks are Required for Admission to NLSIU Bengaluru?

    Getting admission in NLSIU Bengaluru is no easy feat, and candidates with only top ranks get admission in the institute. In CLAT 2026, the NLSIU Bengaluru BA LLB cutoff opened at rank 1 for the general category and closed at rank 108. The General Women category also closed at rank 108. Candidates must definitely score above 100 marks in CLAT out of 120 as a general category candidate to expect admission at NLSIU Bengaluru. The table given below shows the CLAT ranks and marks required for each category to get admission in the BA LLB course at NLSIU Bengaluru.

    NLSAT for 3-year LLB Admissions

    While BA LLB and LLM admissions are done through CLAT, NLSIU Bengaluru conducts the National Law School Admission Test (NLSAT) for admissions to its 3-year LLB course. Candidates seeking admission to the 3-year LLB course must appear for the NLSAT exam. Candidates must have completed a bachelor's degree from a recognised university to be eligible for the 3-year LLB course.

    i have to give clat 2027 but when my result came i got rt in additional subject but overall pass then i gave improvement exam and passed it and have 2 marksheet 1 containing 6 subject marks and written rt in additional subject and in second its just marks of maths am i eligible for nlu admissision

    For CLAT 2027 UG, candidates need to have passed Class 12/equivalent with at least 45% marks, or 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
