While there’s more certainty on CLAT toppers making it to top NLUs such as NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad, there’s far less clarity on lower ranks. A 3000 rank in CLAT may not be good enough to clear the CLAT cut-off for the general category for top NLUs. The Consortium of National Law Universities was conducted CLAT 2025 on December 1, 2024. The CLAT result 2025 declared on Dec 7, 2024. The scores obtained in the CLAT exam will be considered for admission into the 5-year LLB programmes of participating NLUs and 60+ affiliated colleges.

How to Check CLAT 2025 Rank?

Candidates can check the CLAT result 2025 online on the official website to know their rank. Given below are the steps.

  • Visit the official website - consortiumofnlus.ac.in

  • Click on the scorecard link

  • Enter the CLAT application number/ admit card number and date of birth and click on the print scorecard link.

  • The CLAT 2025 result will be displayed on the screen

  • Download and save the result for future reference.

Marks for 3000 Rank in CLAT 2025

To know whether 3000 is a good rank in CLAT, candidates must know the marks that will translate into that rank. The CLAT marks vs rank analysis of last year show that to obtain a 3000 rank in CLAT, a candidate must score around 84+ marks. The approximate range for marks around the 3000 rank is given in the table below.

The data above shows that the margins are very narrow, especially at the top. A difference of 0.5 marks can make a difference of more than 100 ranks. To be on the safer side, a good score in CLAT 2025 for a 3000 rank should be upwards of 85 marks.

Is 3000 a Good Rank in CLAT for the General Category?

The CLAT cut-off trends indicate that a 3000 rank in CLAT is not good for the general category for admission into most NLUs and not just the top-ranked ones such as NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad. Even candidates from the EWS and OBC category will find it difficult to get into top NLUs with a rank of 3000 or lower. However, 3000 will be a good rank in CLAT for candidates from the SC and ST categories. The table below shows the NLUs for which 3000 rank in CLAT will be good for different categories.

Target NLUs for 3000 Rank in CLAT

The NLU admissions 2025 will be done based on CLAT 2025 scores and the NLU preferences given by the candidate. It is important to note that candidates can get admission only in those NLUs which are part of their preferences, irrespective of their rank. Some of the NLUs given in the table below also include state reservation which makes candidates with CLAT 3000 rank eligible for admissions, which otherwise would not have been possible.
