The consortium created the advisory board with Justice Indu Malhotra as Chairperson and five expert committee members, including professors from top institutions like University of Oxford, LSE School of Law, Columbia Law School, BML Munjal University and University of Cambridge. They decided to make the required changes in the following areas:
Quality of questions asked: To reduce the number of questions with two correct answers. This has created a delay in the CLAT counselling process in the previous sessions.
CLAT exam format: Changes in the exam structure can lead to including only the important sections required for the law degree. For example, questions like argumentative writing create a risk of question bias as they are manually evaluated.
Exam syllabus: The changes can tighten the syllabus which might include clearer specifications of the topics included in the exam.
How CLAT compares to LSAT and LNAT exam: Changes can be made to create global benchmarks compared to the LSAT exam in the USA and the LNAT in the UK.
