Student Speak about Shoolini University Campus Life - Set up in 2009, Shoolini University is a private university located in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The university offers various courses including biochemistry, biotechnology, mass communication, management, engineering and law. Under law, the university offers LLB, BA LLB and LLM programs. Admission to law courses is done based on a Common Law Admission Test conducted by the university. Q. Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from?
Ans: I am Archana from Haryana.
Q. Which branch are you studying and in which year you are in?
Ans: I am studying in BA LLB (2nd year).
Q. Were there any initial problems and hiccups that you faced during the initial months when everything at the institute was new? How was the support from the college and seniors? How has your journey been so far at the institute?
Ans: I did not face any problems during my initial days. Always got support from the university staff and my seniors.
Q. What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc., for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Ans: There are clubs for many extra-curricular activities. I have joined the Lawmania Club.
Q. Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
Ans: Gym, breakfast, classes, lunch, classes, canteen, study, dinner, then sleep.
Q. Tell us about the faculty-student ratio here and about the teacher-student relationship in your understanding.
Ans: Teacher-student relationship is productive.
Q. What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?
Ans: I really like the learning environment on the campus.
Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Ans: I am very comfortable in the hostel. The cleanliness is very impressive.
Q. What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Ans: Good facilities.
Q. How do you balance your studies, projects, exams and other activities?
Ans: By schedule.
Q. Tell us about the clubs and societies at the campus and how significant are they from your point of view or students’ point of view?
Ans: Lawmania Club, this is for legal aid.
Q. Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Ans: Latest event is the National Moot Court.
Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Ans: Cafeteria and Solan city.
Q. How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?
Ans: Exploring the campus.
Q. Do you have any Facebook page of your campus where the students express their views, jokes or ideas, or maybe even a blog where they write about their ex:
Ans: Yes, the university has a good social media presence.
Q. What type of companies come for campus recruitment and what percentage of students get placed every year? How is the recruitment process here?
Ans: High profile companies come here and about 30-40% students get placed. The recruitment process here is very systematic.

Q. Tell us something about yourself. Where are you from?
Ans: Hey, I am Ankita Mahajan from Bilaspur.
Q. Which branch are you studying and in which year you are in?
Ans: I am in BALLB (first year).
Q. Were there any initial problems and hiccups that you faced during the initial months when everything at the institute was new? How was the support from the college and seniors? How has your journey been so far at the institute?
Ans: At the start I was really confused about how things will go as everything was new for me. I was worried about how to manage everything in the hostel, and my new life. But my seniors came to my rescue. They were very helpful and supportive. There is no such thing like ragging over here. Talking about my journey here, I am just loving it. Everything here is amazing, right from the environment, to people, to faculty!
Q. What activities are offered in the institute? Are there any clubs etc., for various extracurricular activities? Which ones have you taken up and are a part of?
Ans: The university offers various sports and games and difference activities. At the onset, we can join any club, which includes dance, drama, acting, modeling, singing., etc. I am a part of the modeling team.
Q. Describe a typical day at your institute – what do you do from the time you wake up till you go to sleep?
In the morning I finish up my daily tasks and head for classes, which continue till 5 in the evening. Then it’s teatime, after which I spend some time talking to friends and family. I study for a bit after dinner, and then go to sleep.
Q. What all facilities do you have on the campus? What do you like here the most which you feel is unique and differentiating?

Ans: We have a cricket stadium, OAT, Basketball court, badminton court, restaurants, gym, libraries, labs, etc. I love being in the library. It is my favourite place because of its unique environment.
Q. How comfortable are your hostels and how about the cleanliness factor over there?
Ans: Hostels have all the required facilities. There is an indoor library and ample green spaces. One can have snacks from vending machines. rooms and washrooms are clean and hygienic.
Q. What about the medical facilities? Can you avail requisite medical attention if needed in an emergency?
Ans: Medical facilities are quite good. There is, of course, scope for improvement.
Q. Is there any in-house magazine or journal for the latest events or happenings at the institute?
Ans: The Shoolini newsletter keeps us updated with the happenings in our university.
Q. What are the popular hangouts at the institute? What, according to you, are the most-visited places nearby?
Ans: There are cafes like Misthi and one of the most famous hangouts on the campus is Shambhu Dhaba.
Q. How do you spend your leisure time at the campus?
Ans: I walk around the campus and admire nature around me.
Soolini University is a state university approved by UGC and NAAC Accredited. The college offers admission to the course of B.Tech Electrical Engineering through HPCET , JEE Main as well as lateral entry for the Diploma students.
For Electrical Engineering department, the college have quite a good placement rate around 88% with a median package of around Rs 8 to 15LPA.
