In cases where two or more candidates secure the same aggregate marks, APSCHE applies specific tie-breaker rules to determine the merit rank. The AP LAWCET 2026 merit rank is determined by evaluating performance in specific subjects in a prioritised order.
Rule 1 (legal aptitude): The candidate scoring higher marks in Section C (Aptitude for the Study of Law) is granted a higher AP LAWCET 3-year LLB rank.
Rule 2 (current affairs): If the scores remain equal, the candidate with higher marks in Section B (Current Affairs) is given preference in the merit list.
Rule 3 (age seniority): If a tie still persists after evaluating both sections, the authorities consider the age of the candidate. The older candidate is given a higher rank over the younger one during the AP LAWCET seat allotment phase.
