A good score means students qualify for merit lists and have a strong chance of getting their preferred SLS campus. Above 40 marks in the SLAT exam is generally considered a good score. However, achieving a score of 45 or higher offers students a competitive advantage, especially for general category students. A good score opens doors to SLS Pune, ranked 7th by NIRF in 2025, and to other SLS campuses.

The following variables play a crucial role in determining the final cutoffs and merit lists for admission to SLS Pune, Noida, Hyderabad, and Nagpur:
Difficulty level of exam slots: SLAT 2026 runs in two phases on December 20 and 28, 2025. Differences in question difficulty level between slots affect score and percentiles, and affect cutoffs accordingly.
No negative marking: The SLAT exam has no penalties for wrong answers, so students attempt everything, which results in higher scores.
Total number of applicants: More students across 68 cities means tougher competition for 1,080 seats.
Campus ranking and reputation: SLS Pune, ranked 7th by NIRF 2025, attracts top talent and sets the highest bar at 45-48. Newer campuses like SLS Nagpur see comparatively lower demand.
Performance in SLAT PI rounds: SLAT scores lead to the Personal Interview, and strong SLAT PI increases final merit.
Reservation policy: Categories like SC/ST/Differently Abled get lower cutoffs (e.g., 32-38), whereas candidates from the General category need more scores to clear the cutoff.
