The High Court of Punjab & Haryana conducts the Punjab Judicial Services exam for the recruitment of Civil Judge. Eligible candidates are required to take the Punjab Judicial Service written evaluation and viva voce. The authorities conduct a preliminary exam for screening of the applicants. Candidates are asked objective questions from the Punjab Judiciary 2026 syllabus of the mains exam. The mains exam has five papers. The Punjab Judiciary syllabus 2026 differs for each paper under the mains exam. The total number of marks for the Punjab Judicial Service exam is 750 marks for the written test and 250 marks for the viva voce. Both the mains exam and viva are conducted only in the English language. Candidates are not permitted to carry Bare Acts to the exam hall.

Candidates are required to score a minimum of 40% marks in each of the five written exam papers to be eligible for the viva. This does not guarantee the call for the viva voce. The court will shortlist qualified candidates three time more than the number of vacancies. The final selection will be done based on the 50% aggregate marks in the written exam and viva. SC, BC and PwBD candidates require an aggregate score of 45% for final selection.
