CLAT 2027 Vocabulary in context questions require the candidate to infer the meaning of a word from its use in a sentence or passage. Rather than depending on memory to find the definition of the word, the CLAT 2027 candidates need to look at the words around the word, the tone of the passage and its overall meaning.
Do not try to figure out the meaning of the highlighted word on its own.
Rather, read the whole sentence and sometimes the sentence(s) that come before or after.
The context often gives the meaning away.
See whether the word is being used in a positive way, negative way or neutral way.
For instance, if a passage mentions a policy as “controversial”, the context might make it clear that it was indeed a controversial one.
One effective approach is to substitute the challenging word with each of the options mentally.
Pick up the one which makes the original sentence meaningful.
The passage might give examples, explanations, comparisons or consequences about the meaning of the word.
For instance:
“The proposal was turned down as it was impractical and resource-intensive.”
The word impractical is explained through the following explanation.

Students may be required to choose the word which is opposite in meaning to the given word.
