Why has the CULET 2025 exam been delayed?

The CULET 2025 exam has been delayed for over a month because of an ongoing legal dispute over OBC categorisation in West Bengal. In 2024, the Calcutta High Court scrapped the state’s OBC reservation list prepared after 210, and a subsequent stay was placed on a revised list on June 18, 2025. This dispute has halted the preparation of merit lists and delayed the admission process across various universities and courses in the state, including CULET. The Supreme Court was scheduled to hear the West Bengal government’s petition challenging the High Court’s order on July 15, 2025, but the hearing was postponed, further delaying the resolution. However, the ongoing court cases and their outcomes will continue to influence the final schedulting and admission process.
