Delhi Judicial Services Syllabus Prelims 2026 (200 Marks)

The DJS Prelims tests candidates on legal knowledge, legal aptitude and English, along with objective questions based on legal problems. The DJS prelims are only used to shortlist candidates for the mains. Its marks are not counted in the final merit list. Delhi Judicial Service Syllabus Mains 2026

The Delhi Judiciary Mains syllabus consists of four papers. The total marks are 850. Each Mains paper is conducted for three hours.

DJS Mains Paper 1: General Legal Knowledge and Language (250 Marks)

Mains Paper I is divided into two sections. The general legal knowledge section carries 100 marks, while the language section carries 150 marks. The general legal knowledge section covers current legal affairs and recent legal developments.

The language section tests a candidate's ability to understand and express ideas clearly. It includes essay writing, translation and précis writing. Candidates are required to translate from English to Hindi in Devanagari script and from Hindi to English. The Delhi Judiciary 2026 syllabus for language also tests grammar, language and clarity of expression.

DJS Civil Law I Syllabus 2026 (200 Marks)

Civil Law I covers major areas of civil law. Candidates should prepare the following laws:

Delhi Judicial Service Viva-Voce 2026 (150 marks)

The viva-voce is the final stage of the DJS selection process. Only candidates who meet the mains qualifying marks are called for the interview round. For General category candidates, the requirement is at least 40% in each Mains paper and 50% overall. For reserved category candidates, the minimum is 35% in each paper and 45% in aggregate.

Candidates up to three times the number of vacancies in each category are generally called for the viva-voce. The tie-at-the-cut-off rule is also applicable. The final ranking is based on the combined marks of the mains examination and viva-voce. Marks scored in the prelims are used only for shortlisting.
