Who Should Apply for Nirma University LLB Courses?

General category candidates with CLAT rank above AIR 10,000 may find it difficult to secure LLB admission at Nirma University. ILNU merit number and CLAT AIR are different: the merit number indicates a candidate's position among applicants to Nirma University, while AIR is the candidate's overall CLAT rank.

The Nirma University CLAT 2024 and 2025 cut-offs put the general closing rank at around AIR 9,100. However, the merit number increased from 1,144 in 2024 to 1,296 in 2025, while the corresponding AIR remained almost unchanged. This suggests that more candidates ranked ahead of AIR 9,100 applied to ILNU in 2025.

How Does Nirma University Prepare Its CLAT Merit List?

Nirma University prepares its merit list based on candidates' CLAT all-India ranks. Candidates must apply to ILNU in addition to registering for CLAT 2027. The admission process is as follows:

1. Candidates must appear for Common Law Admission Test 2027 on December 06 and obtain a rank

2. Candidates must separately fill out the online application form on the ILNU admission portal, admissions-il.nirmauni.ac.in

3. ILNU prepares its merit list based on the inter se all-India rank of CLAT applicants and their admission category

4. Each applicant can check their ILNU merit number by logging in to the admission portal using their registered email ID and credentials

5. ILNU publishes merit announcements on its official website, law.nirmauni.ac.in

6. Candidates whose merit numbers fall within the announced range are called for ILNU counselling. They must follow the instructions in the merit announcement to complete the admission process and confirm their seats.

How to Check Nirma University Merit Number 2027

Candidates can check their merit number by following this process: 

1. After the CLAT 2027 results are announced, visit law.nirmauni.ac.in and check the announcements page (law.nirmauni.ac.in/announcement/) and Admissions & Aid page (law.nirmauni.ac.in/admission-aid/) for the "ILNU Merit" notice for the relevant programme.

2. Log in to ‘admissions-il.nirmauni.ac.in’ using the registered application account. Recent merit notices ask candidates to check their merit number through this portal.

3. Check whether the merit number appears in the general or NRI / NRI sponsored list.

4. Check the registered email account, including the spam folder, for counselling and admission offer messages.
