    NLU Assam Placements 2026: Salary, Fees, CLAT Cutoff and Safe Score

    National Law University (NLU) Assam was ranked 35th in the NIRF 2025 Law Ranking by the Ministry of Education. NLU Assam’s placement percentage has increased from 43% in 2025 to 62% in 2026. The median salary also increased from Rs 8.9 LPA in 2025 to Rs 10.8 LPA in 2026. Candidates aiming to get admission to NLU Assam must take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), scheduled to be held on December 6, 2026. Admissions at NLU Assam are less competitive than at top NLUs such as NLSIU, NALSAR and WBNUJS.

    NLU Assam Placements 2026

    NLU Assam has the highest placement rate of 62% this year compared to the last three years. A total of 59 students graduated, out of which 14 did not participate in the placements and 28 students were placed. The median salary was Rs 10.8 LPA. In 2025, out of 58 students, only 18 were placed. The placement percentage was 43%, and the median package was Rs 8.9 LPA.

    In 2024, 70 students graduated from NLU Assam, out of which 20 students did not opt for placements and 16 students were placed. The placement rate was only 32%, with a median package of Rs 6.8 lakhs per annum.

    The NLU Assam’s placement percentage and median salary increased over the last three years, but the NIRF ranking declined.

    The closing ranks of general category candidates for NLU Assam were 2,049 in 2026, 2,141 in 2025, and 1,704 in 2024. The closing ranks are even lower for reserved category candidates.

    The expected safe CLAT scores for different categories based on the marks vs rank analysis are:

    • General: 85-90 marks

    • EWS and OBC: 80-85 marks

    • SC: 65-70 marks

    • ST: 55-60 marks

    NLU Assam Fee Structure 2026

    NLU Assam's tuition fee is approximately Rs 88,000. Hostel and infrastructure charges are around Rs 73,600. The total annual fees at NLU Assam, including additional expenses, are Rs. 2,44,000. Considering this fee structure, the median placement package is relatively low.

    NLU Assam has improved its placement percentage and median package, but it is still a lower-tier NLU. Candidates with a lower CLAT score can also aim for private law colleges in India. CLAT is accepted at 26 NLUs, IIULER Goa, and more than 60 private law colleges in India.

    i have to give clat 2027 but when my result came i got rt in additional subject but overall pass then i gave improvement exam and passed it and have 2 marksheet 1 containing 6 subject marks and written rt in additional subject and in second its just marks of maths am i eligible for nlu admissision

    For CLAT 2027 UG, candidates need to have passed Class 12/equivalent with at least 45% marks, or 40% for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
