This is not the time to learn new concepts but to consolidate what you already know and maximise your score using smart strategies. Below are section-wise and overall last-minute preparation tips tailored specifically for SLAT.

1. Understand the Exam Pattern Clearly

Before revising content, be absolutely clear about the structure of the paper & SLAT syllabus:

  • 5 sections: English Language, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative/Analytical Reasoning, GK & Current Affairs

  • 12 questions per section

  • 1 mark per question

  • No negative marking

This means attempting maximum questions with reasonable accuracy is key.

2. English Language: Revise, Don’t Experiment

English is one of the most scoring sections if handled calmly.

What to do last minute:

  • Revise grammar rules (tenses, subject-verb agreement, sentence correction)

  • Go through a vocabulary list (synonyms, antonyms, foreign words)

  • Practice para jumbles and inference-based questions

  • Read passages carefully—answers are usually directly implied

Tip: Avoid overthinking RC questions; stick strictly to the passage.

3. Legal Reasoning: Focus on Application

Legal Reasoning can significantly boost your score if you apply principles logically.

What to revise:

  • Basics of Constitution of India, Contract Law, Torts, and Criminal Law

  • Common legal terms and maxims

  • Key landmark judgments (only their principles)

Tip: Apply the legal principle exactly as stated in the passage—ignore personal opinions or real-life logic.

4. Logical Reasoning: Master Familiar Patterns

Logical Reasoning questions are often repetitive in structure.

Last-minute focus areas:

  • Statement–Assumption, Conclusion, Inference

  • Cause and Effect, Assertion–Reason

  • Coding–Decoding, Directions, Data Arrangement

Tip: Use the elimination method—it saves time and improves accuracy.

5. Quantitative / Analytical Reasoning: Keep It Simple

This section tests basic numerical ability, not complex math.

Revise:

  • Percentages, Ratio & Proportion

  • Profit and Loss

  • Number patterns and basic calculations

Tip: Skip lengthy calculations initially and come back if time permits.

6. GK & Current Affairs: Be Selective

Do not attempt to cover everything at the last moment.

Revise smartly:

  • Current affairs of the last 8–10 months

  • Awards & Honours, Sports events

  • UN bodies and international organisations

  • Important national and international events

Tip: Attempt GK questions you are confident about—educated guessing works due to no negative marking.

7. Smart Attempt Strategy

  • Start with your strongest section to build confidence

  • Avoid getting stuck on a single question

  • Since there is no negative marking, attempt all questions after eliminating at least one option

8. Mock Test & Revision Strategy (Last 2–3 Days)

  • Take 1–2 full-length mocks only

  • Analyse mistakes instead of taking multiple tests

  • Revise short notes, formulas, and legal principles

9. Exam Day Tips

  • Sleep well the night before

  • Read questions carefully—many are testing comprehension, not difficulty

  • Keep calm and maintain steady speed

  • Use the last few minutes to attempt leftover questions

Final Advice for SLAT 2026

SLAT rewards clarity, consistency, and calmness more than deep subject knowledge. Focus on high-scoring areas, trust your preparation, and attempt the paper with confidence. A smart last-minute strategy can make a decisive difference in your final score and law school admission. Best of luck for SLAT 2026!
