MHCET Law Exam Date:01 Apr' 26 - 02 Apr' 26
Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil announced that the MH CET exam will now be conducted twice a year. The exam will follow a model similar to JEE Main. Candidates seeking admission must mandatorily appear for both attempts. Candidates can additionally choose to appear for both attempts of MH CET. Along with the engineering exam of MH CET, the CET Cell is also planning to conduct the MBA/MMS CET exam twice. However, as of now, there have been no talks of the MH CET Law 2026 for 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB being conducted twice in a year.
The State CET Cell will now conduct the MH CET 2026 exam twice, just like JEE Main. As of now, this model will be followed for engineering, pharmacy and MBA exams. The Indian Express quoted a higher education department official, “The new system is to allow students a choice to appear for MHT-CET as per their convenience. Apart from allowing a chance for aspirants to improve their scores, a CET held twice will also allow students another chance should they miss the first one for any reason. In the existing system of one attempt, if a candidate missed it due to any reason, there was no such chance.”
The Higher and Technical Education Minister of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, made this announcement after chairing a review meeting with the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, the conducting body for the admission process in various higher education courses in Maharashtra. Patil also said, “At the national level, two JEE entrance examinations are conducted, giving students two opportunities. Similarly, students in Maharashtra will also get two opportunities through these two entrance exams”
A lot of things will change for students if the CET Cell decides to conduct the MH CET 3 and 5-year LLB exam 2026 twice. Here are some key notable benefits or changes in the exam in case the new model is adopted:
The exam will be conducted twice in a span of around 2-4 months, and the best scores from both attempts will be considered.
Candidates will have the chance to either take one attempt or appear for the exam two times.
In case the exam is conducted twice, there might be significant changes in the MH CET Law cutoff marks.
Two attempts of the exam means a good chance of improving scores. In case candidates couldn’t perform well in the first attempt, they can improve their scores in the next attempt.
Giving two attempts of an exam reduces the exam pressure significantly, as candidates know they have another chance to improve their scores
Also, two attempts will give candidates better familiarity with the exam and increase exam-taking experience in the second attempt.
The CET Cell of Maharashtra is likely to publish the MH CET Law 2026 exam notification tentatively in the first or second week of December 2025. The MH CET 3 and 5-year LLB 2026 notification will be released together. Candidates will get to know about important details related to the exam, like the total number of attempts, registration dates, exam dates, changes in exam pattern and other important information.
