AIBE 19 Enrolment Certificate Upload Deadline Extended to January 6, 2027

Isha GargUpdated on 08 Jul 2026, 10:18 AM IST

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially extended the deadline for uploading enrolment certificates for eligible candidates of All India Bar Examination XIX (19), AIBE XX (20), and AIBE XXI (21). Candidates covered under the pass (undertaking) or withheld categories can now upload their AIBE enrolment certificate by January 6, 2027, subject to the conditions prescribed by the BCI. This extension gives eligible law graduates additional time to complete their State Bar Council enrolment and become eligible for the Certificate of Practice (CoP). A candidate cannot legally represent clients or sign vakalatnamas in Indian courts without a CoP.

Who Must Upload the AIBE XIX Enrolment Certificate?

The requirement to upload an enrolment certificate applies only to specific groups of candidates. This includes those candidates who were marked as "Pass (Undertaking)" and were allowed to take the exam while their official state registration was still being processed. Additionally, this step is mandatory for candidates with "Withheld" results due to missing information or those who need to fix errors in their State Bar Council (SBC) records.

Importance of the Certificate of Practice (CoP)

CoP is the most essential document for any lawyer in India. It serves as the legal license to practice law in Indian courts and is issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI) after candidates pass their AIBE exam. Without a valid CoP, a law graduate is not legally authorised to represent clients or appear before a judge in court. CoP also confirms professional credentials, allowing lawyers to join bar associations, vote in council elections, and access various welfare schemes for advocates.
