The Bar Council of India (BCI) will release the AIBE 2025 syllabus for the 20th edition of the bar exam. The AIBE 2025 syllabus covers 19 core law subjects important for legal practice in India. The AIBE exam assesses a candidate’s legal knowledge and ability to practice law, with successful candidates receiving a Certificate of Practice (CoP). The syllabus of AIBE in 2024 included three new topics, namely Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. Candidates desirous of appearing for the AIBE 20 exam 2025 must go through the syllabus to formulate a preparation strategy.

The syllabus of AIBE 20 comprises topics such as Constitutional Law, Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Act, Family Law, Administrative Law, and more. The table below provides the AIBE 20 subject-wise weightage of the AIBE syllabus 2025. The exam is conducted for 3 hours and 30 minutes. However, there is no negative marking for wrong answers in the AIBE exam.

The BCI prescribes the AIBE syllabus 2025 through its official website. The AIBE 20 syllabus 2025 is based on the topics taught in 3-year or 5-year LLB, and it may remain largely consistent with the previous year's AIBE syllabus, with minor revisions in the weightage and inclusion of topics: Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

The AIBE 20 (XX) 2025 syllabus will be similar to the previous year. The syllabus of AIBE 20 (XX) covers 19 law topics, including 10 questions from Constitutional law, 8 questions from IPC, 10 questions from CrPC, 10 questions from CPC, 8 questions from Evidence Act and more. Candidates can check the detailed syllabus in the table below. It is essential to note that the AIBE exam is not an open-book exam; therefore, candidates are not permitted to bring notes, books, or any written materials into the exam hall. Only bare act copies are allowed inside the examination hall.
